Default Timing Belt

Hi guys,

I'm new to this forum and was hoping for a little guidance. I have a white 92 teg, (all stock) and the timing belt went on it. Gilmans in Scarborough tells me its probably a $1500 fix.

Not sure whether its worth fixing or if I should just try and sell it as parts car.

Any thoughts? It has about 225k and the body is kinda rough.

thanks

Not worth it. Might as well drop in another B series for that kind of price...and still have money left over. If the car is in shitty condition you might as well buy something else. I've seen alot of decent shapped DC's going for 1500-2000.

list it on kijiji, but most people won't pay 500 for a non running car unless there are some goodies that come as a bonus. Good luck with the sale.

Well I think all answers are really disappointing you Goon but its the true that a non runing car is nearlly useless so you have to sell it on some low price. I am not interested but my friend have a garage I can ask him if he want's to buy. Can you please share some photos. Thanks

hello,
are you sure it's just the timing belt ? if it's only the timing belt i can recommend you my good and honest technician and he won't charge you more than $700 for it ! if you need to replace the water pump / guides etc.. while you're there, then would just be added cost for those parts !
$1200-$ 1500 for timing belt is just plain hi-way robbery !

That price is just way to much for just a timing belt. Check different shops but like others said you can get a whole new motor for cheaper and installed.

Just with the rough body, since I've been through this with other cars... rough body generally can be an indication of things waiting to go wrong. What's to stop something else major from going wrong on it once you dump money on the car?

I'd say let it go, start fresh with something in better shape
