I get goosebumps as I drive in the gsr - with the front wheels making metal screatching sounds - to Canadian Tire.

I walk into the store, after telling the polyester salesmen at the front I already have a Canadian Tire mastercard.

I look for the automotive counter, and walk towards the counter and stand behind this older brown dude looking for a "Transmission Oil Filter".

10minutes pass, the dude leaves empty handed.

"Brake pads for an Acura, 2001, Integra, GS-R, Thanks" - I tell the dude with the acne"

"How much are they? I'm on a budget" - I say, thinking of my bank balance.

"Monoe Premium pads are all we got for your ride. $60 for a pair bud"

Should have bought OEM instead, thinking their slightly more expensive? I drove to CDN tire thinking i'd save money.

A friend tells me OEM pads are like $20 a pair!!

Is that true?!

- If so, aren't OEM beter quality, or no?

Should I return these pads?

Can someone confirm the price....... and someone who knows what they talkign about, telling me which are better, OEM or Monroe?

there is no way OEM pads are 20 bucks for the set. their probably 70-80 bucks for the average guy who walks into the acura parts department. maybe 40-50 bucks if you know someone who can hook you up with a deal.

OEM pads suck...those ones you got are probably just as good and maybe better?.....just put them on BUT if you have metal to metal contact from your brakes chances are your rotors are toast too.......your probably gonna have to replace them....

 

Brake pads should be about 50 dollars if i recall from crappy tire.

PBR Metal Master $89 Best

- I'm hoping my rotars are good.. i doubt its metal to metal, it looks like its that metal warning thingie that rubs when the pads get low.

I think my rear ones are going too.. ----, another $60 bucks.

me: excuse me, do you carry caliper grease?

dumbass: why do you want that for?

me: to grease the slider pins in the caliper.

dumbass: why do you put grease on the slider pins?

me: to keep them working properley and to prevent them from seizing.

dumbass: you don't put grease on the slider pins, grease will make them seize, i never put them on when i do brakes.

me: i'm pretty sure you should grease slider pins man.

dumbass: trust me, i'm a certified mechanic.

Not sure about the crappy tire prices though.

 

ahhaahahha ------ noob. i worked at canadian tire at the age of 16 for a year and i swear they didn't give us any training. the only training was how to use the computers to look up parts. even though i new my ---- there were some coworkers who fucked up badly. once this lady comes in and asks my partner what u use for clutch fluid and the guy gived her gear oil next day are store got sued.

 

trust me..crappy is sooooooo under qualified its not even funny...scary is more like it...
worked there for waaaay to long...got nuttin out of it...even the employee discount was a joke...

all i kno is that every mech that i worked with and respected wouldnt garentee the monroe pads....they always told me im better off pickin up the certified premium pads then the monroes...they cost less too and r way better quality...
have those on mine and never had a prob since...
had monroes for a while and they were ----...but i think i got a bad batch but im not the only one...alot of customers came bak complainin about brake failin or loud squeeks...the backin on some of the pads FELL OFF....so iunno man...

Monroe are Premium tho, i'm not sure about the 'certified' part tho.

Does anyone know a place in Mississauga that sells PBR ceramic pads?

 

i got a quote of 58$ for PBR metal master pair for the rear .. if there is a metal scrunching noise ..ur rotors are better replaced

 

lol..i used to work at the crappy tire auto parts when i was 16 too...and trust me, you don't need any training what so ever to get a job there. as for pads, i've always just put on the certified brand, cost is $40, and they work fine, just don't glaze them over at the start and you should be good. sure there's alot better brake pads out there, but if your on a budget then the certified sould be a consideration.

 

best pads that canadian tire sells and i believe their cheaper than monroes
