Default Swapping auto engine..

this is the stupidest thing i ever heard of...but someone asked me to find out so here it goes

my freind just bought a civic hatch, now he wants more power but his parents may need to drive it in an emergency or somthing, and they dont know how to drive stick, and his dad is the type who tries to do something even tho he doesent know how, meaning he would screw up his tranny by not knowing how to drive manual properly, but still trying.

so is it possible to swap an auto motors between different cars? and if so whats needed/ special steps
