Hey guys,

Ok, here's the deal. My RS's body is totally rotting out to the point that it's non-repairable and I already have another body lined up. My engine and tranny are mint so I'm going to be taking them out of my body and putting them into this new body. A few questions though:

1) How hard is this to actually do? Anyone know of a step by step at all for this?

2) How long will this take approximately to do? I'm hoping to get the other body soon so I want this done ASAP before the snow comes.

3) Anything that I should maybe look at replacing or I should at least check while doing this swap?

if you're swapping it in to the same year car or atleast same version OBD it should quite easy disconnect rad hoses, axles, linkage, throttle cable,if you have cable tranny the clutch cable and the engine harness. loosen and tuck in the alternator to clear the master cylinder. connect engine hoist and lift it enough to unbolt your motor mounts with ease and then pluck it out as for putting it in the other car just reverse the process....i think that's it...if i'm forgetting something plz add

So, looks like I will be doing this now .. so here's the thing .. I'll be picking up a 94 GS-R and putting my 94 RS engine into it .. I know, down-grading but only engine I have til spring .. so, since both are OBDI I shouldn't have a problem right? Just basically un-bolt, hoist out and drop in then hook everything else back up.

Another question though which probably will sound stupid but which should I do first, the engine or the tranny? Am I going to need to drain the tranny fluid and the oil in the engine? Sucks being a noob to all this

By the way, since I have people's attention .. I'll be looking to get another engine in the spring .. is it possible to put an H22A into Integras? Or not worth the hassle?

You'll be pulling both out at the sametime. The engine and the tranny. Save yourself the headaches and seperate the tranny from the engine outside of the car.

Also when putting the rs engine into the gsr, your gonna need to swap ecu's as well.

Your gonna have to atleast drain the coolant. Oil and transmission fluid are up to you.

Just take your time, have masking tap and marker in hand so for every connector you disconnect from the engine, label. The same goes for the bolts, have a zip-loc bag that has a label on it so you can write on it, once you remove a bolt.

Hey T, just was wondering what you meant by seperating the two outside of the car?? How is this easier? Sorry, just my first time doing this, trying to get as much info as I can before Sat

Just think of how much easier is will be to handle a tranny outside the engine bay as it is heavy and hard to manoever. It's easier to see all the bolts, you have room to seperate the tranny and tug and pull and pry from wherever you want without any interference. You don't have to worry about dropping it on you. And it is especially easier on the install side. To line up the tranny is a breeze compared to doing it in the car. The list just goes on and on.

Having just helped do a motor swap, the tranny would have been a huge PITA if it was done in the car. Heck, it was a huge PITA out of the car!

Ok, thanks guys .. I just thought it was more of a pain in the @$$ to take the engine out with the tranny still attached because of the angle you'll have to pull it out at .. but you guys know more then I do lol
