Default Stupid antenna issues...

I hate the damn antennas on our cars.... i have a 92 teg, and over the last winter the antenna has become a loud grumbling monster...

I have read other tips but couldn't get the back panel off to get at the motor, i tried disconnecting the fuse, but that took out the clock, radio and antenna... no good...

is there any other way to stop the antenna from going up/down?

mine had the same problem too. One day it wouldn't go down so with the car off, I forced it down and it has never came back up and the radio works just fine. You don't even hear the motor kick in when you turn the radio on. It's as if the motor is dead and it doesn't even try bringing up the antenna.

I spliced in a toggle switch to the antenna wire at the back of the deck so I can control it. I can put it up and down at the flick of a switch and have the stereo on the whole time.

I managed to fix this on my own.... finally took the time to really tackle it... got the back panel off... there were screws that i didn't notice before that were hidden to me... so i just clipped the yellow and white power wire... no more up and down, but i still get reception...

Yea I hate my antenna I can't go in the car wash ever because even when I turn the stereo down, it won't go off, and even when I pop the faceplate off the antenna stays up. The only way the antenna goes down is when the car is completely off.

mine started to growl and not go down all the way
I took it out..took it all appart. and cleaned it. lubricated it.

forgot to take notice to how the teeth went on the spindle.
so it took some trial and error to get it to position but it works like new now
