Stereo Install

Stereo Install
well i've finally gotten around to getting some parts and was thinking of installing the 12" sub in the spare tire well in the trunk.
I was planning on using some 3/4" plywood in place of the stock pressboard wheel cover, mounting the sub to that and fastening the whole thing in place. I was also planning on putting a rubber seal around the whole thing to cut down on noise from vibrations.
In essence I hope to make the tire well into a closed port sub-box
my question is, has anyone done this? and if so any tips on how to get the best possible sound? If you don't think I should do this is there an alternative that doesn't involve a huge sub enclosure taking up trunk space?
thanks guys

The RSX actually has a 100watt (50 watt RMS) spare tire sub. As does the USDM Protege5 as an option both made by Pioneer. I'm using it right now but it's time to move on to more power.

JL Audio PowerWedge CS110RG-W1v2 10" Single 4-ohm Sealed Hatchback Sub

on a slightly seperate note...
i think i'm gonna go with a alpine type r 1500w peak, 500rms
what type of amp should i power it with? (i would like to keep with the same name brand)
and should i run 4gauge power wire to my amp. and 4gauge from my amp to sub instead of the eight guage i currently have running both?
its quite a bit of work to re-run everything but i'm willing to do it right. any tips?

I dunno if this is what you were looking for but Team Integra has a good article maybe you can take a bit from there, Spare Tire Sub Box - Team Integra.

i'm also planning on lagging it down with six 4" bolts to the trunk floor. (will have to take extra care sealing it i know) but i figure it should work just as good as any non-ported box.
thanks for the link though. it does have some helpful stuff in there.

^To fill in the gap just use spray foam and trim off the extras. And six 4'' bolts is over killing, you are only going to run 500rms which is childs play. If anything you would probably need none due to the weight of the sub and box

in order to power ur subs it might be a nice idea to run 2 amps because the price for 1 amp with high output that ur going to be looking for which is higher then what ur speakers can handle will be expensive and a capacitor might be a good investment as well to save the load off the battery

don't worry i plan to upgrade to way more than 500 rms when i have the cash
