I'm assuming its fiberglass....as long as the shape/ size doesn’t change drastically, measure what needs to be removed and cut from the left and the right around the center. Don't just take from one side unless your 110% sure the size doesn’t taper. I'm a strong advocate of the Dremel but you need to have a steady hand...once you have 2 pieces go out and acquire the necessary fiber glassing products....resin.. cloth..etc. its really not that hard, take a bit of time read into it, its straight forward. The hard part will be ensuring that when you set the 2 cut parts together they are perfectly straight. Depending on what the skirts are like you may want to build a jig to keep the parts perfectly aligned....however if the floor works you might want to just go with that. When you start, start small, just enough to hold it together....allow it to set.. inspect your work, if your happy then go all out. Obviously the side that people will see should only have a light application...of really just resin...you can go for strength at the back...more cloth..resin and so on. once this is all done.......sand as desired...spot filler for any imperfections. ..sand....prime....paint.

By the time all is said and done depending on how you value your time it might just be easier to get a shop to do it. Me...I would do it my self, but that’s just who I am. If I didn’t do it, I can’t take pride in it. As for body shops being expensive ....quotes are free, make some calls, drop by some shops.

Good luck with what ever route you take, and next time....check the part before you hand over the cash....
