hey guys,
is there any way of knowing if a rear caliper is seize by looking at it. i'm trying to save me on time and money by taking it to a shop and having them look at it. there's a good chance it is, but if its not then i rather not spend the extra money if not needed.

depends, have you done rear brakes before? What part are you stuck at?

 

I've never done brakes before, and i'm thinking of doing it with my dad this weekend who knows alittle about brakes. not sure if they are stuck, i just know that i down to metal. can't even see the pads in the passenger rear. last year i replace the driver rear caliper due to it. it wasn't cheap.

rather then staring a thread i think im in the same boat as you TOP_DAWG. heres my post from ----:

"hey, I just put on my summer rims/tires this morning. My car is a 2001 integra LS from what im seein were not in for any snow(i hope) but anyways. i took it for a quick spin around the block after so the shocks and everything are sitting properly after jacking up/down the car. and i noticed from what appeared to be the front passenger side that there was a kinda scraping noise. not all the time though. at first i thought maybe it was the dust sheild rubbing the rotor or something but that didnt seem to be it. after a closer look i noticed that the brake pad on the front passenger is worn more than my front driver side. there is still a bit of meat on the pad but enough for me to warrent changing the pad.

im just curious if it could be the caliper seizing up as well? i can spin the rotor just fine with the tire off if that lil bit of info helps"

the rear caliper pistons are supposed to be screwed back in unlike the fronts that are pushed in, just FIY
