tegs get stolen jus as bad over here....u cant outrun or beat these ------ scavengers...
i say if u cant park u teg in a garage then dont get a teg...thats the safest way...
other then that u can but every alarm and gps system out there and have 50 kills switches...they will still find a way to get it...or atleast take stuff off of it...
if ur rents own a shitty car then talk to them to have them part outside....noones gonna steal a kia or a geo for its engine...

it's like what everyone says. have layer's of security. i'm in the exact same position as you are. never had a problem with my teg (since it has no visible modifications) but now that i'm putting a sound system in it, i'm beefing up the security too.
make sure that you have a fuel pump kill switch and do the hood cable redirect as your first mods. they're cheap (under $10 in parts) and very effective. next comes your alarm, which is as effective as the install.
a basic alarm done well, plus whatever other features you want (proxy sensor) and you're doing as well as you can. have a tilt sensor too, backup battery and multiple piezo sirens and you're basically as secure as you can be.

Get a 2-way alarm from viper.. they have a contract where if your car gets proken into or stolen they will cover everything after the cost of ur insurance deductable if you get there top the the line 2-way installed by one of there certified distributers (future shop for example)... rest easy....

my area is pretty nice but yet i still have a decent security system (but i will be beefing it up even more) but i park my car in a garage EVERY NIGHT!
I sleep over at my gf's house on weekends and i make her take out her car so i can park inside with her car behind me.
I won't take my car where it'll be sitting in a parking lot for long amounts of time nor will i take it when i go partying at night.
Now that i think about it.....i can barely take my car out because of these damn theives.
