Default rotor clearance

does anyone know if a 12 inch rotor while using GSR calipers would clear a 16 inch wheel...?? I'm trying to inprove my braking system on my DB2 but it's hard to find a system that's available for this chasis..... it's like the DA is the red headed step child that no one likes...

lil help...

Thanks

i know with 11" rotors the smallest you can do is a 15" wheel.

what 12" rotor fits on a DA? from my understanding, GSR calipers are the same as RS,LS,GS.

you can do the Prelude 11" Rotor redrilled to 4x100. i've seen them done with accord wagon, legend and NSX Calipers. it's supposed to be quite easy to do.

oh yeah... 4got.... powerslot offers a larger 12" rotor with bracket relocation for DA's.... but would that fit into 16's tho...??? BUFF..???? lol....

i think so. if the smallest rim you can use with an 11" caliper is a 15, increasing the the rotor size 1 inch would more than likely mean having to increase the rim size 1 inch as well......assuming you're using stock calipers of course

glad i could help

not trying to be a *****...but...:GrinDev:
what is the problem with your brakes?...where are they failing you?

fade too soon?
not enough initial bite?
not enough feel?

going to the 11" rotor is a simple and effective mod, but don't forget you are increasing inertia, (like having a heavier wheel) and unsprung weight.

switching pads can make the world of difference, and is much cheaper:shurg:

my $0.02

you make good points and i agree. i personally would just do the prelude/legend swap for cost reasons. i'm going with a 16" rim anyways it's not a heavy one but the gain still out weighs the loss.

I agree, the prelude/ accord swap would be the way to go, and actually have been looking for the parts if I can find them cheap. but I think it would screw me for Autoslalom. (points wise)

I can't imagine why a civic / teg needs to go to the 12" or larger rotor most of the guys running NASA's Honda Challenge don't go beyond the ITR setup.

anyway, good luck

to be honest with you it's just not enough initial bite that's all.... i'm gonna take care of the brake feel soon with ss lines so i'm not worried bout that.....

my friend jus did a 5 lug and his brakes almost put me through the wind shield using a stock setup... i just want to get as close as that as possible without braking the bank.....

u do make a good point.... i'm still contemplating tho.....

would getting bigger rotors in the back such as type r's cure the increasing inertia problem...???

rear brakes won't make much or a difference. it'll help but maybe not enough to feel a difference. if you do 11" rotor with legend 2 piston caliper braided lines and pads like stoptech or EBC greens, you should have high dollar braking at oem price.

My pad preference would be / is Hawk HP+.....but they are very dusty and very noisy...

the other pad I really like is the UBX/ UXB??? ceramic ...dusty but not noisy and much cheaper

I have them on the wife's accord..not as much initial bite but you really feel the brakes pulling you down..really noticible at hwy speeds.

I tried the ebc greens (everything else stock) and was not overly impressed...this was about ~6-7 years ago... may be different now!

If the car is old, as all tegs are now! the SS brake lines will make a difference to the feel..they don't make you stop better, but you can get the feel of threshold braking much better...sooooo they kinda do make you stop better

Satisfied brought out some new pads that many in the Solo community are saying good things about. I have not tried them.

Keep in mind what you are using the brakes / pads for when choosing for example, I use the Hawk blues at the track...they are holy F%@k brakes when hot but dangerously useless (almost) on the street.

werd... thx for your opinions..... i am gonna get ss lines, upgrade to motul brake fluid, and get high performance pads later, after my current pads and rotors are pooched....

jus one question, jus to make sure... the prelude rotors/legend caliper set up will clear hammerheads rite..?? the reason why i'm asking is becuz that's the rims i have and sticking with, so i just want to make sure it'll clear....

thanx a lot....

everything is much appreciated!!!

ya it'll clear the hammerheads. just make sure to do some research if you plan on doing the prelude/legend brake setups since there's some machining involved and not just a bolt up application.

u mean the grinding the back of the caliper to clear the bracket..??? and the redrilling of the 4x114.3 rotor to fit the 4x100 bolt pattern right...??? oh how much would that cost n e ways...???

thanx
