Default a rattling while i idle

what up guys....while my car is idling and everytime i hit around the 2400 rpm range, i hear this rattling. At first i thought it was my exhaust hitting the back bumper but i noticed it is clearing it by about an inch. After doing some research, i was told it could possibly be my heat shield but after looking under the car, my heat shield has already been removed. Could it be the heat shields around my headers? and if this is the problem, could they be removed without causing any damage to the headers or motor or infact anything on the car?
Has anyone else experienced this problem cause i have been told this is a common problems in acuras.

yup...sounds like a rusted heat shield to me. I recently removed mine a couple of weeks ago and the noise is gone.

if it's not the cat, could be the gasket inbetween your header and cat. replaced mine yesterday.

ok, i removed all heat shields and i still have the rattling.....i realized it's coming from under the car like around the cat. Is there anything else i can do or should i take it to my mechanic? also, is it bad to drive without a heat shield infront of the stock headers or does it make no difference?

Like i said before... Chances are the material inside the cat has come loose and now it resonates at a certian air velocity.. very common. Ive had mine like this for over a year. You can check the gasket, if its that be happy... if not either turn your music louder, or replace the cat.

that's it. u blew ur engine. it's the sound of a car running on 3cylinders.

better start saving for a new engine, or a rebuild.

I'd doubt it... If he was running on 3 cylinders... he'd know it and feel the power difference everywhere... not to mention it would show if he took and etest...
