plzz help Vtec isnt workin after trany swap

Default plzz help Vtec isnt workin after trany swap

can some 1 plz help me out i got a 88 cx with a jmd B18C i just did a tranny swap and ever since i have a engine light and cant even rev it out past 6k my vtec isnt workin iuno y , i check the solenoid its clickin , oil level is good , vss sensor is workin , tps sensor is good , all the grounds are good , wiring is good 2 , can some 1 plz help me out thnks alot

did you check what the CEL was? that might be the problem

yeh i got a CEL on but im not sure wha it could be , how do check it? do u kno where the jumper is on Ef9 civic?? id aprriciate it thnks

vtec shouldn't kick in when the CEL is on anyways. Get the problem fixed and you should be good.

i kno that the Vtec wont kick in if the CEL is on but , i cheked everything aand its good , do u kno where the jumper is on a ef9?

not sure. my guess is it's under the dash on the passenger side. might not help you since the engine is obd-1

doesn't matter which OBD the engine is...only the ecu matters.
If its OBD0, then when the CEL is on there is a little light on the ECU itself that will flash (theres a hole in the ecu cover). Count the flashes.
If its OBD1 then you have to jump the service connector and count how many times the CEL flashes. The service connector on 88 CRXs are under the hood on the drivers side shock tower area, its a little 2 wire plug with nothing plugged into it.

i dunno , but ill check out in the morning try to find that jumper thnks guys ill let u guys now how it goes

jumper is very small, near the passenger kick panel.

actually, on 88-89 civics/CRX's its under the hood, on the driver's side, its a small white plug. But he's already found it, now he's having fun trying to figure out how to fix his code 22.

i rewired the vtec presure switch straight to the ECU now it everythin is workin again thnks alot guy i apriciate ur help , thnks zman

ya, your CEL can be on and vtec will still work, it just depends on what code it is.
The only codes that i've personally seen that will cause vtec to not work are the VSS code, code 21 or 22 (vtec codes).
