I just clean up my trunk interior and I want to paint it

How do I prep so I can paint it? Do I just sand it down and then paint it or do I need to prime it first? What grit do I use?

 

what colour, and if like a gloss black or something, just use Rust paint, but if you want a colour match or something, then yes, prime it, (Duplicolor Primer and scratch filler works amazing, get it from CT) and they sand it down with like 800 for a smooth finish, then paint.

 

what about the rusty areas? Should I sand it out and what grit should I use to get it out?

 

I used 150 on mine, it worked good, it would be alot easier if u have a random orbit sander or a compressor and a DA sander... you should definitely sand that, or else it will just grow.
