New Antenna

New Antenna
When i bought my car a few months ago I figured out that the original stock antenna didn't work (didn't come with a head unit when I bought it so I didn't know it was shot til I got a new deck). I found a bunch of posts on Honda-Tech for the "hidden" antenna projects and found a supplier here in the Niagara region that carries them, so decided to try one. They got really good reviews from the guys on Honda-Tech and they are cheaper and look better (almost invisible) than the stock radio tower. I got the Metra On Glass Amplified Antenna (Model# 44-UA200)
I installed it on Saturday afternoon at the very top of my back window and ran the power, antenna and ground wires tucked under the edge of the headliner and down the c-pillar into the trunk. The ground wire is very short and so I had to extend it since there is no place to ground it at the top of the rear window. After it was all installed, the reception was $hit. I read that most people got better than stock reception with this exact unit but I only got 1-2 of my usual 5-6 stations. I also read that the ground is really important and will "make or break" the install so I made sure to grind down to bare metal before bolting the ground wire to the metal bracket. I figured that since I had a good contact that my problem is most likely the wire I used to extend my ground.
So today I riped it out of the back window and decided to put it in the front windshield instead, since I could ground it to the screws holding in the rearview mirror, using just the short ground wire on the unit. I ran the power and antenna wires along the headliner and down the A-pillar and under the dash to the head unit
Man, what a difference. I haven't driven around yet but it already sounds alot better.
I'll see what its like in the next few days of driving around but I think It will be fine.....and got rid of the ugly stock antenna too. Hate the way Tegs look with the antenna up.
I'll post up in a bit to see if it actually works well or not.
I would have taken a few pics but its really simple to install and I didn't have my camera around.

hell no, its not the warehouse....I'm still waiting for the right size air intake coupling after 2 failed attempts.....hahaha
The place is called Wildcar Audio....905-641-2007....didn't get the guys name but he carries Metra antennas
Mine is the 44UA200......$45.99+tax
Also, the AM reception isn't bad but I honestly only listened for about 30 seconds
