my car won accelerate

hey guyz a couple of days ago my timing belt broke and i was lucky that i was park at my girl's house anyways now i got the timing belt done and now my mechanic can figure it out and i dont know y it wont pass 3000rpms and now im not even driving it so i need ur help how can i fix dis problem thanx

LivinLow 01-07-2006 02:49 AM

it literally won't pass 3000rpms? need alittle more info then just that.

If you're belt broke you probly bent some valves.Might wanna check that out.

Also you might have one nasty wornout clutch and it's just slipping servierly.

My clutch is currently slipping on occasion,At it's worst times it won't go past 3grand if i tried my best,Just have to baby it and away she'll go the next day.

Dave YO 01-07-2006 04:33 PM

timing is off a tooth or 2. also get a new mechanic

delta13 01-07-2006 05:42 PM

its not the clutch its something else im still lost wit dis the timing could b out so im not sure

Dave YO 01-07-2006 05:47 PM

dude if its happening since he put the belt on im telling the belt is off a tooth ive seen it many times

LivinLow 01-07-2006 06:20 PM

if he's a mechanic he'll have a timing light,Tell him to double check his work.

Shouldn't cos you anything,Should be under shop warrenty still

delta13 01-08-2006 07:44 PM

ok guyz its not the timing belt anymore bcoz i just finish redoing it and its right on the dot so its somthing else its nd im totally clueless right now im so pissed off right now so i really need ur help guyz PLS AND THANK YOU

Dave YO 01-09-2006 12:53 AM

how did you line the timing marks

midnight_breeze33 01-09-2006 01:06 AM

motors toast. buy a new head at the wreckers..swap it..and it'll work. and are u sure your pushing the gas pedal far enough?

nbk 01-09-2006 02:09 AM

bro i'd say just swap a new engine with 100k clicks or so, u can find one for around 6 to 700. i'd say rather then troubleshooting and going through the headache just spend the money it will cost you around 1G with a new engine and installation. Look at it this way if you get a engine in a good condition it probably won't burn oil, and you'll have low mileage than what you probably have rite now on your current engine.
My friend asked for an engine a while ago and they told him 475 for his 96 integra and thats a b18b i'm sure u can find a b18A cheaper than that.
But before you do this i'd say find out if it really is the problem with the valves or timing. Don't get me wrong its just a suggestion i.e if you got the money to spend.
Btw when you do try to accelerate what exactly happens when it gets to 3k rpm
lemme know I see if I can help you out.

WildoutWhiteGSR 01-09-2006 08:41 AM

Give us a lot more details. Describe exactly what's happening now.

The best way to determine the problem is to buy a compression tester and a leakdown tester then proceed from there. A compression tester is about $45 and a leakdown tester is $90 at princess auto. Unless you know a person that can lend you one.

That's the best way to troubleshoot your engine problem and they'll tell you exactly whats wrong with your engine.

Also make sure you didn't swap the tps connector with the map sensor connector. Remember that Jonn...lol

delta13 01-09-2006 03:06 PM

ok my bad guyz ive been leaving out details and im really sorry dis is wats going on right now on my car everytime i start it. it starts out rought it sound like its stragelling to start and while its sragelling so start the engine light would b off but as soon as its idlelng i sounds perfect but the engine light woould b on so i dont get that either. now when rev the engine it stops at 3100rpms it sound like it has a rev limiter it would b the same if im driiving it tops i can go is 3100rpms and wont go any higher im i city streets and im in 5 gear going 60km how shitty is that. and i check out timing belt my crank shaft my pistons every thing is fine im ganna check out my ecu codes and fuel system today bcoz my ecu is flashing 4 times and when it was in perfect condition it always flashed 7 times anybody knows integra codes or websites pls let me know im so its almost a week now and i still havent figured dis ou which totally sucks

Dave YO 01-09-2006 04:22 PM

^ i have no clue what you said

if all you did was put a new belt on im still going to say its timing. its real easy to be off a tooth

midnight_breeze33 01-09-2006 05:14 PM

least you wont get any speeding tickets and your saving gas.

midnight_breeze33 01-09-2006 05:15 PM

lmao 7 times = not perfect ye theres a link for it on Team Integra.

midnight_breeze33 01-09-2006 05:18 PM

sorry i forgot to mention. motors toast. i didnt read part of that..hehe oops. your valves are bent, head gaskets blown. just put in a new motor..its a waste of time trying to fix this one. also check out the IAC, and your spark plug gap. theres a million things that could be wrong. but if the cold start makes it idle REALLY rough, like its choking. then your compression is bouncing and one cyl isnt firing right.

Dave YO 01-09-2006 07:01 PM

peter check your pms

tdot2gteg 01-09-2006 07:03 PM

lolll. i was reading but not comprehending almsot anything. then it turned into another language and igave up. you should take some english courses

maybe u could try honda-tech.com

nbk 01-12-2006 10:14 PM

have you checked if there is moisture (watery) in the plug wires or even on the plug itself. that might be the cause

yazo 03-16-2006 01:12 PM

check injectors and distributor.

gsr rudebwoi 03-17-2006 07:17 AM

If you did the leakdown & compression test and everything is fine, get a hold of a mulitmeter and check you Crank Position Sensor.

Chyld 03-17-2006 05:50 PM

ok i hate when people use "dis" for this its soo anoying. Sorry go on

midnight_breeze33 03-18-2006 02:13 AM

your valves are bent, and probably smashed up your pistins pretty good. I know this from experiance. get a new mechanic..that dudes n idiot. its cheaper to get a new motor then it is to worry about the one u blew. good luck.

JDM_gsR 03-20-2006 04:40 PM

Do you have adjustable cam gears? It may have slipped. Timing is off.
