Maximum Tire

Maximum Tire
Well just getting everything ready for spring, I got 17" rims but they are mounted on 16" tires from the original owner..is that possible? I measured the rim with measuring tape and got 17" but the tires say 205/45/16.. Anyways to the main question.. Has anyone put 215 width tires on thier DC integra? Will it work properly after being lowered about 1.5" ? No touching when turning? Let me know, thanks.

Dude, you have alot to learn...
I've said this to you before, and I'll say it again... RESEARCH! There are tons of websites out there that will explain tire fitment/sizing as well as wheel measurement.
Do you ever stop and wonder why everyone bashes you on these boards? You ask the most retarded questions!
Rims are typically stamped with the measurements on the inside of the barrel or back of the spokes. In there, you should be able to find the diameter, width, and offset of the wheel. When meausring a wheel, you don't go from one edge of the lip to the other, it's based on the actual barrel. If your head is a hat size 7 1/2, can you fit a 6 1/2 hat on there?
I think it's safe to say that you have 16" rims and not 17"s... if by some chance you DO have 17" wheels with 16" tires, that's just cool... tell me how it rides.
Next, asking if a 215 tire will rub on a 1.5" drop is so amazingly vague. You need to be more specific with tire size (ie. width AND sidewall). You then need to consider the offset and width of the wheel. And then you need to consider other aspects of your suspension... if you're running stock shocks and Ractive coilovers, you're probably going to rub just based on the fact that your suspension sucks ***. Hell, even tire brand can be an issue as some companies have beefier sidewalls than others.
A proper question in this case would sound like:
"Hey guys, I'm thinking of putting a 215/45/16 tire on my 16x7.5" wheel with a +40 offset. I'm running on H&R Sport springs and stock shocks, has anyone ever run a similar setup to this before? Any input would be greatly appreciated."

WTF Vince.. Im asking a question in the technical questions board and your still bashn? If you don't want to help then don't, I really don't get it. There are some people on the board that will help even if its the stupidest question so my bad I didn't learn about this when I was 12..What do you want me to search on google? "Can 17" rims fit on 16" tires?" and "How to measure rim sizes?". Anyways thanks for still explaining. Im dropping brand new tokico blues (gas) and tokico red springs. Don't know offset and what not, will find out.
Nawaaz, I don't mind if it is 16's, I actually wanted 16's this time from my past experience from my silver integra's 17's but just making sure they are 16's which I have in my house right now.

As Vince said, they are stamped on the wheel. This really isn't that difficult.

bbTeg, Yeah I know thats why I said im going to find out what the offset and stuff are.. I looked on the back of the rims and 4 of the spokes had engraving on them and this is what was engraved:
First Spoke: 16x7.0J
Second Spoke: ET:35
Third Spoke: PCD:
Fourth Spoke: 239
Now help me out, Can I drop 215/45/16 on this?

Cheaper and less of a chance they will rub. You're not going to notice a difference between a 205 and a 215

Ya thats possible, oh ya and can you tell the guy that mounted them that I have a few pennies that I need changed into thousand dollar bills! Thanks

another thing to keep in mind is that the wider tire you go, the more drag that is on power.. more co-efficient of friction.. might suck more of your gas noticably or un-noticably. might also give you premature tire wear because of tilt steering. keep those factors in mind.

"How to measure rim sizes?"
This is what i got:

The rim well could be 17" tall, but the actual tire seat is 16" because all rims have a lip that goes over the edge of the tire, alot of people get confused that way, I've installed probably 10,000 tires in my lifetime and so I hear ya why your confused cheetah. You do have 16's because if you had a 17" rim and a 16" tire it would be ripped to shreads trying to get it on.

I know you decided on what tires to get but I searched what you said on google.
