Default LS-Vtec or turbo

Hey guys, i'm considering doing one or the other. LS Vtecing my car with a b16 SIR head or a b18c GSR head, then NA it. or Just get a Turbo. Whats the pros and cons, and the cost differences.

Oh i'm also looking to mainly add more pounds of torque and increasing my acceleration, vs overall speed.

boost for sure.
The only way a LSvtec will be anywhere near what you are looking for is if you use b16 pistons, mill the head a bit, ITR cams/valvetrain, ARP rod bolts and head studs, new OEM bearings and gasket set, OBD2 b16 oil pump and water pump and balance everything for 8500rpms and of course the Golden Eagle LSvtec conversion kit.
But by the time you spend all the money on that you could've boosted the stock LS and made 250ft/lbs of torque at a relatively low boost level (10-13psi) with a simple turbo kit and nice freeflowing exhaust (preferrably 3").
50 or 57 trim t3/t4 with .60 A/R compressor and .50 A/R turbine works very well on b18a/b's. They make gobs of torque and spool pretty quick.

okay cool thanks man. i currently have a b18b, with a gsr tranny. how much would a turbo kit cost, for something like that? and what about those ebay kits. ive heard some bad things about it. but i dont know whether its just them trying to get me to buy there kits, or if its really that bad. what brands should i be looking for?

kits like this
http://cgi.ebay.ca/T3T4-B16-B18-TURB...QQcmdZViewItem

ranging from $400~$600

Whatever you do, DO NOT get that cheap turbo kit. It will break, and break other things in the process.
Do yourself a favour and go to honda-tech.com and read, read, read in the forced induction section before posting. Everything you need to know has been covered many times.
Read two, three or four times about each part before buying.

You're kit done properly should be at least $3000...give or take depending on parts.
You need to consider, tuning, exhaust, shop rates, custom work.
Seems like you're not very familiar with turbo's so you'll need a lot of work from a shop = $$$

Good luck

ls/vtec or b20/vtec. i suggest b20/vtec which will give you decent torque and if built properly with the right parts you should be making 200-210whp. I have a stereotype on turbo'd honda's thats why i stay away from it but thats just me

Turbo honda's can be just as reliable as NA honda's just get yourself a good tuner and your set!

I have friends that have Turbo Type R's for YRS. On stock internals, and have had no problems at all. ALOT of ppl like to say its not safe to boost a Stock internal Type R and have the motor last long. But again, i've seen elsewise.

Research, and plan your build threw, turbo or NA. Just dont buy Cheap parts. and have it put together/installed by someone who knows what they are doing. And you should be all set.

turbo kit all said and done should be in the range of 3k++ for a well put together, complete bolt up kit.

I asked the same question to my buddies a month ago. I'm glad I went over to the darkside. No regrets!

Do both, that way when someone asks you "hey is that Vtec or Turbo?" you can answer "yeah"
