LS/VTEC, must haves vs. nice to have....
Im currently looking for a B16 head ( I've heard the JDM version is best )so I can begin my swap. I dont feel like paying an additional $150US so I'm gonna be drilling into the block for an oil feed source. Just wondering if i need to do injectors and/or fuel pump, I've heard conflicting info on this. Also will I be able to keep the existing exhaust manifold or do i need to get headers?
In addition I believe the stock LS compression is 9.2:1, anyone know what that goes to when the new head is on? Im thinking of milling it a bit, ( and maybe a mild street port ) try and get it into the 10.7:1 - 11.2:1 range. Thanks in advance!
P.S. what are most people putting to the ground after tuning with this setup?

you can get the ls/vtec kits from full race or golden eagle or you can mix and match them. the GE dowels fit better and the FR oil feed comes from the oil pressure sensor where as the GE has a sandwich plate. the FR head gasket is proper one. it sounds like you're trying to build it to be as fast possible for as cheap as possible. if you don't reinforce the bottom end, don't expect it to last long. if you wanna get the compression in to the 11's, toss in some type-r pistons. you'll have to machine the rods to fit the wrist pins. b16 pistons give higher compression and you don't have to machine the rods to fit them.

according to http://www.zealautowerks.com/ compression calculator, your compression should be about 9.97:1 with the PR4 B18B pistons and B16 head.

not that much better......they are very very close in flow.....just the intake port shapes and combustion chamber shape is ideal for more power.
B16 heads can be found much cheaper than the gsr head.....they both work well....
