i skipped velocity when i had my front end repainted. unfortunately i've heard really good and really bad about them.
car wings auto did mine and did the final modifications needed to fit my front end together (read: BFH to rebar), they paid great attention to detail (like respraying part of my rad support, spraying the rebar black so it didn't show, etc) and i've had great complements on the fitment of my front end and the quality of the painting. he also guarantees his work for a year, so if you have any problem, you can bring it back. he refuses to have any sub par work affiliated with his name.
he also did my friend's element, color matched all the plastic body panels. they had to redo it twice because the primer wasn't adhering to the body panels. sanded everything down smooth, and used an aircraft grade primer to get the job done right. they didn't cut corners, and didn't charge extra once quoted the price despite the additional labor and materials needed. i'll def. vouch for them

this place is more for custom painting. me and 6 of my friends have been there. i can personally vouch for him...great guy and went out of his way wasted hours repainting my car and fixing it without any labour cost. i paid for paint and flakes myself. Friend got the Camelian paint job (5 tone) done for $3000 which is cheap with all the rust and dents that he had on his MX6. check him out.

Taking a car from stock to tricked out can happen in one of two ways. It's either done in small steps -- buy new tires and rims now, modify the suspension a few months later, invest in a paint job a year later, etc. -- or in one large step where everything is completed within a period of weeks.
Most of us, due to budgetary restraints, have to live with the piecemeal approach, investing in our ride a bit at a time. But a few of the fortunate ones (those with money to burn) can afford to do it all, and do it now.
No matter the approach, there's always one question all performance enthusiasts ask themselves: Which shop should I trust with my car? And the question gets more complicated and more involved if you have to find more than one competent shop: one for the engine mods, another for the custom paint job you're planning, another for the sound system and alarm system you'll need to install, and so forth.
What's truly unique about Meyer's shop is the fact that although Concepts on Wheels has technically only been in business for about two years, each individual component has been in business for decades. Terry Cyr, V-P of operations, says: "Our shop is staffed with professionals. Every business under our roof has been in business independently for over 25 years, and the staff came with it, including the owners."
The only business that's not under the same roof is the paint shop, "and that's because of the Town of Markham's zoning bylaw restrictions," Cyr says. "But it's two minutes from here."
Cyr took me on a tour of his mammoth facilities, and you can tell just from walking through the various shops, and watching all the employees working together on the variety of projects they have on the go (they've got more than 80 full timers on their payroll), that the staff has had their skills honed over the many years they've been practising their respective crafts.
While many tuner shops are staffed with guys that look like they're still in high school, the Concepts on Wheels team is made up of seasoned professionals with the type of experience most of us would want working on our investments.
What really surprised me is the fact that they have a corporate office with accountants, secretaries, receptionists, etc. While it may come across as a bit odd to stress this point, those of us who know the aftermarket industry realize that many of the businesses serving the tuner market are run out of the back of a warehouse. So coming across a shop with a corporate structure is a bit of a rarity, and really speaks to how seriously Concepts takes its business.
Another rarity is the fact that Concepts takes the subcontractors out of the equation and controls the entire modification process in-house. "A lot of the shops farm the work out to subcontractors, but we don't," Cyr says. "We have the ability to create a schedule, so that when your car comes in, it moves into the process and continually moves through the variety of stages until the project is done."
If you're fortunate enough to get your entire car done all at once, Cyr will take you into a meeting with a few key people to show you the options, discuss possibilities, and plan the transformation. However, Cyr admits that the majority of clients in this market take things one step at a time, in which case you'll be able to find all the help you're looking for from the well-informed counter staff working in the front showroom.
Two months ago, Concepts solidified its position in the Canadian tuner market by signing on to become NOPI Canada. "This is done through a division of our company called Lynx Distribution," explains Cyr. "We knew that in the tuner market NOPI is king, so we met with them at SEMA, and took advantage of the opportunity to distribute in Canada. We now distribute all NOPI components."
