I'm not a huge fan of frankenstein motors. Lots of time and modification involved, thus costing you $$$. You could use your stock LS crank, and bore it out to a 2.0L if you wanted I guess. Re-sleeve it, new rods, pistons etc
I say get a newer B18 motor (they are fairly inexpensive) and have a custom turbo made for it.
The change from auto to manual may be a headache for your mechanic though.
