k&n air filters
okay guys in case you dont know imma tell you that im new to all of this integra business..
anyways today i went to part source to buy my integra some spark plugs.. i noticed a advertisment there for k&n filters.. i asked how much it is and the store employee told me its $110.. so my jaw dropped... why are the air filters so damn pricey.. is it really worth for me to get that or do you guys suggest something else... do you guys even have a k&n air filters on your tegs? |
thats strange... i have a k&n on mine and i'm pretty certain it didn't cost that much.
are you sure it was just the filter and not an intake? can't remember what i paid for mine.... it was a while ago |
i even asked the guy at part source to make sure it was just the air filter and not the intake piece.. but thats what he said.. i also didnt think they were that pricey.. i thought it was gonna cost me like 40 bucks tops..
i dont know maybe someone else has more feedback:confused: |
yeah i just pulled out the bill for it. (i'm bored and curious lol) paid about 100 for it
|
okay perfect so since you bought it would you recommend it ?
are u satisfied with it and everything? do you notice the difference at all ? |
not anything majorly noticeable, its just an intake so it does give some pep, but not really a lot. but yeah i haven't had any problems at all with it.
|
how ofter do i need to change my air filter if i just buy the original one ?
|
k&n are good for life or a million k's. lol whichever comes first. at least thats how they advertise them
|
so you have the k&n air intake not the air filter?
|
i have the intake and the filter. the filter alone cost 100. the intake came on the car, with some shitty filter
|
oh i see
thanks for the help |
i have the drop in one(oem style replacement), cost $90. you clean it once a year so you don't have to keep buying new filters.
you're supposed to check the air filter everytime you do an oil change, and replace if necessary... |
ya thats wanted to buy but the guy at part source said it was 110 and not 90
where did u get it for 90 ? and im not sure how long im gonna keep this teg, thats why im thinking if i do keep it this would defintly be a benefit to buy |
I've got a K&N direct drop in filter if you're interested.
|
maybe in a week or two brother
whats your price |
Stock K&N drop in air filters are sold at canadian tire for like 75+tax i think. I'd recommend it.
|
i'd recommend the AEM dryflow filter, which i got for $57. and since its dryflow, it doesnt use oil like k&n and many other brands out there, and also outperforms them.
Heres a link for a pdf file at aem's own website. this test compares the dryflow filter against many other competitors including k&n. take a look yourself: http://www.aempower.com/files/swri_d..._data_10-7.pdf |
where can i purchase this dry flow filter?
|
well i got mine from this place in mississauga because thats where i live. i dont remember the name but i can give u the location. its in a plaza on milcreek road and derry. its the only auto shop so it shouldnt be hard for you to find.

K&N drop-in is the one and only mod I have done to my car, sounds awesome (you need to take out the resonator) and does add a bit of pep. |
thanx for the tip
|
I use the cheap ractive cone filters and never had a problem with them at all, and they are like $25. The K & N work very well and last long, but they are pricey.
|
Yeah, i used to have a reactive one, then upgrade to the aem dryflow. never had an issue with either, and there cheaper. i regularly checked my intake pipe for like dust residue on the side and there was none. and it was on a cold air one, so more ---- gets in there.
|
I have had 3 cars with K&N filters: 1 drop in cartridge and 2 with K&N Intake and Cone filter. All came with the cars when I bought them, so they weren't my decision. Never had a problem with them but I don't know that they made a big difference.
Since I had multiple cars with these filters I bought the K&N cleaning and oiling kit when it was o n sale at crappy tire. I have no reason to believe that the cleaner is any more effective than dish detergent (although it does appear to rinse very thoroughly with no residue) or the oil is better than motor oil but I figured it was very little to pay for the purpose built product. Anyhow does cleaning the filter make any difference? It certainly washes out a lot of dirt. Is it better than a paper filter? I dunno, but certainly the cotton material is stronger and maybe easier to control for pore size or whatever you call it. I think they are perfectly reasonable filters. Maybe a $100 lifetime filter is better than a $15 filter every year. But will it give you 7HP or get your 1/4 mile under 14 seconds. No |
i think imma get one shortly
|
I'm considering getting an AEM dryflow, I have a short ram air that came with the car, and the K&N filter on it has certainly seen better days. It's quite dirty, and the front of it is somehow bent.. I'd personally rather have a dryflow
|
The only reason the K&N filters are worth the money are that you can re-use. I've used them on a few cars and no matter how dirty they got, once I cleaned them, they were like brand new.
|
ya for sure im getting a K&N filter after all the good responses i heard
|
I have a k&n air filter in my car on my short ram. It's a good filter, buy the cleaner and oil spray as well.
Spray cleaner and let it soak for 10 minutes, rinse with running water from inside out, let it air dry completely and then spray oil. |
