JDM ITR SRS Steering Wheel
Just wondering if anyone of you have installed this wheel into their Tegs? I need a new wheel (Black interior conversion) and I really want the JDM ITR SRS wheel, but I know it's really hard to install.
I know Blue Dragon on here has it installed but that's it.
Anyone else?

Its not hard to install at all. If your car is OBDII, its a direct plug and play type deal. If your car is OBD1, then you have some fiddling around to swap the airbag connectors.

Lol, I do want one. I have the JDM ITR cluster in my car. MY car is OBDI, that's why i'm afraid of installing it. I'm looking for someone who has done it before to install it for me whenever I get one. I'd be scared of blowing the airbag.
Did it affect your turn signals? I was reading over on T-I.net that some people lost the auto retract feature on their turn signals.

If you break the tabs on the cable reel, it doesn't affect the auto cancel. I didn't break the tabs on mine, so one side would cancel early, and the other side would cancel late because the reel doesn't fit exactly centred unless you break the tabs.

I transplanted all the JDM pods into my USDM cluster so everything would work properly without any hassle. When I got my JDM cluster, it had like 19,xxx km's on it, lowest i've seen.
I'd rather have the SRS equipped airbag so I don't get screwed over in the even of an accident...screwed by the insurance company that is for not having a functional airbag in an airbag equipped car.

hey wayne,
i just swapped teh green film from my 01 itr. and everythign is working fine, only thing is i believe the speedometer is off by 7-8km/h.
but i don't have a maint. light anymore either.
did you do more work or whatsoever?

Is there a reason why you guys swap the films instead of the pods themselves? Swapping the pods guarantees all lights and indicators work in your car like it came from factory, only the gauge pods are of the newer ones you want.
I've never swapped the film before for anyone...just curious.

swapping pods is like swapping green film. thats essentially what you are doing.
by swapping the pods. what you are doing is just using the USDM casing. where as if you toattly dismanatle the cluster, in the end, its just a casing right? no different, from usdm, jdm, cdm, audm, edm.
the only reason i changed my film is because the cluster was orginally a 98 or something and its obd1 appearantly, and once i threw on my obd2 green film everythign worked perfectly.
so by swapping the pods. you are essenitally doing the same thing, instead of physiclly moving the green film, you are putting the pod on the green film now.

Gotcha, but then you'd have to swap over the indicator screens as well if the new cluster doesn't have something like your USDM cluster has right? Like you mentioned that you don't have the maintenance light anymore, so you'd have to install the bulb from your old cluster(if none is present) and then swap over the indicator screen that says Maintenance Required. No?

yeah thats the only thing I dont have. but otherwise everythign is fully functional. and besides maint. light i only use it for oil changes. but i do my oil change every 5k anyhow, so thats not even a problem, or after a weekend at the track.
but i have everything neverthless, abs, srs, door, engine light, oil light, signals. etc. everything..the whole nine yards..
and bonus yellow needles all the way to 260 ftw :d

i have it in mine...
mine's a 99 so it was basic plug and play. the horn hooks right up so that was easy. I have the same problem Blue Dragon has with the signal cancellation. Other than that...it's probably my favourite mod. heh

i actually bought mine off ebay. Nobody locally had them in stock 2 years ago and i wanted it ASAP! Don't know why i was in such a hurry but i got it and that's all that matters to me

I really want one, but don't think it would be worth it cuz of my OBD1 predicament. I can't even use a 98-01 USDM wheel because of the same reason, which is the better one of the two for 3rd gens. Has anyone successfully installed a 98+ wheel into a 94-95?

it was eh....hmmm..i wonder if he'd like to take up the task of an install in the future...with incentives of course.
