Default I think Its the transmission

While driving usually in the summer months (last year and again this year) I hear a high pitch squirting noise when the car shifts from 1st to 2nd gear and possibly in 3rd. I dunno what it is its not a grinding noise so I hope its nothing too problematic. I havent changed the fluid in some time but Im gonna do that eventually I first want to figure out what that sound is. I drive an automatic btw. Anyone know what this could be or maybe could ask someone who would. Any help would be great, thanks.

I'd think clutch long before I'd suspect the tranny. If I had to guess, I'd say one of the clutch springs has come loose and is rubbing against the flywheel. Or maybe a loose flywheel bolt. I'm just guessing though. If you're getting power down at full throttle and there's no grinding I'd say your tranny is fine. Take it in when you get the chance or just turn up the radio since it doesn't seem to be effecting anything else.

is it a squirting or is it a metal sound?

if it's a metal sound check the heat shield for your exhaust..

Its gotta be a squirting sound Unless me and my dad are wrong then yea I guess Im screwed if thats metal making that "squirting" noise? Why check the heat shield? Mines clamped down rattles every so often don't think its whats making the noise. It only happens when the car shifts from 1st-2nd & 2nd- 3rd. Ill check the level today its just a bitch to get at the tranny dip stick thank god Iam a women with long slender hands lol.
