HELP with my car!
so the car doesnt start.
first of ill explain, it was working perfectly fine untill i added a fuel system cleaner the motor started to cut in and out, so i pulled over shut the car off, and havent been able to start it since. ive replaced the fuel filter, still doesnt start, the car cranks, and it seems as tho its almost about to start, but doesnt go all the way and start. any help please |
fuel pump....pump off the back seat and hit it with a hammer.
Seen it happen at work |
maybe the fuel send relay. I had the issue with the car not starting, and we replaced the send relay unit, and it started right up.
|
how much gas is in it and how much of that ---- did you add
you'll be able to hear the pump come on if you turn the key to on |
Edit: do you have Spark???
if not I would bet big $ on the following if you do have spark...nevermind! it is common for the ICM to go suddenly http://www.redpepperracing.com/techn.../abt.sized.png it is not hard to do but a bit of a PiTA to get to. not reccomended for a first DIY but if you have experience it is not too bad hope this helps |
try hitting the tank from underneath while starting the car if it starts then it is the pump
|
ok as far as i know, the car is getting a spark and the car is getting fuel
i had someone check those out |
i sprayed that quick start in the TB, and it did pop, so i know there is a spark and fuel, it just doesnt want to keep going
|
A motor only needs air/fuel/spark to work, so clearly your not getting fuel/spark.
find which one your not getting and then we can help. For all we no your ignitor/coil could have just gone. Or you ran stupid rich and plugged your cat. |
as mayo stated you can't be getting fuel and spark. Your car would be running.
What exactly did you or this person check over? Things to check again are: Fuel Pump Distributor more specifically the Ignition Control Module or Coil Lastly and very unlikely the Main Fuel Relay I put my money on the fuel pump. |
check your fuel injectors.... one might be clogged possibly

A simple fuel pressure gauge can tell you a lot.....you can put one together from Princess Auto for about $20.....
|
to verify spark, you can take off one plug wire and place it next to a ground (on the chasis) and crank a couple of times. the spark should be visable.
Don't hold plug wire :burned: that is even cheaper the the $20 fuel pressure gauge ;) |
so you've found a way to check the fuel pressure thru the spark plug wires...brilliant

there is a spark, stuck a screw driver up the wire, and sparks
|
Haha..allya rass too funny!
:D |
better get it fixed PITTL is on saturday!
|
i had the problem last year. i checked the fuel by loosening one of the bolts on the fuel filter and turning on the car if fuel sprayed it shows that it worked. i had spark too i pulled a plug out and put it in the wire and grounded it my strut tower bar and was getting spark but it wasn't a white spark it was orange. so all in all it ended up being my distributor cap. don't rule it out
|
good chance its the Main Fuel Relay.. Most older integras have this issue.
