Default Hassled by the police?

Hey all, I've seen and heard many things about guys getting hassled by cops for having modded cars, pulled over for "random checks", especially for things like loud exhausts, HIDs, aftermarket tail lights, etc.

The Woodbridge area seems to be quite bad for anything pull-over related. There's so many cruisers that frequent the streets these days, I've never seen so many before.

What are your experiences with this?

I have never been pulled over for a "random" check. Had black ej1 with dark tint, loud exhaust, HID's and no problems. Now with flat black DA and louder exhaust, still no problems. And both cars are/were lowered...
Only time I do get hassled by cops is randomly at tims in etobicoke will get blocked in and cops will pretend they smell weed and talk/yell ---- at us.

I only had a problem once that was when I first got my car I reved the car up to 5-6 RPM in first I was a complete noob and they pulled me over for a loud exhaust. The was ok he said change the exhaust fight the ticket or else I will be pulled over all the time. I just fought the ticket didn't change anything and never got pulled over again. My car looks completely stock anyways.

the only way they can give you a loud exhaust ticket is if they have a dB scanner. now im almost 100% sure they just assumed it was too loud.
you can go x-coppers or other places like that and talk to them. they usually give you a free estimate and tell you the probable outcome, which in this case should be dropped out of court

They can give you a ticket for your exhaust as it's would be unnessery noise, it does not have to be louder then the limit on it.

The cop does not have to be in the court room, all they have to do, is be signed into the court house.

^ Ditto. Apparently these days officers are offered incentives to actually show in court, it's getting a lot harder to fight some tickets.

To be honest the cop wasn't an ------- he was the one who told me to change my exhaust and fight the ticket I fought the ticket but didn't want to get a new exhaust. So he didn't bother going at all.

As far as I know both Metro Toronto Police started paying cops overtime for showing up in court a few years ago AND the courts have increasingly co-operated with scheduling dockets so that a single cop could have 40 of his tickets on the same day. So to show up, knock them all down in sequence and get paid OT... it is cop heaven.

Oh and this also seems to have increased the issuing of bullshit tickets they know you will not fight. In April I got a parking ticket for parking too close to a laneway or some horseshit. I was parked in the PARKING LOT of a KFC, while inside the restaurant eating lunch.

I expect they are just taking the chance that for a $50 ticket you will not fight. No way a parking ticket is worth my time. If it means demerit points I will pay X-Coppers or similar to wipe those.

From my knowledge they just make it hard or impossible to fight parking tickets. To be honest it's easier to just pay them than fight them, because unless you have photo evidence of some sort, you just simply will not win.

I had a very lucky case with that actually I was at the time hortins across from sq1 where the GT cars meet was last saturday. I was meeting someone and parked a little further away because there was no other parking spaces I come out and boom a ticket. I didn't understand why I got the ticket. I noticed I parked in some sort of office parking area, which I found out after checking the area out again one night after school. They were in the same place as the tim hortins. I went to the place to pay for my ticket and asked if I could get it reduced. They actually ended up just letting it go and didn't charge me. I have the ticket right beside me lol.

Got pulled over twice on both my DC and DA by the emissions cops to check everything was in order, no probs. From my exerience just be polite if you get pulled over, just fought a speeding ticket i got in Oct last year actually talked to the cop for about ten mins. while getting the ticket and when it went to court it was dismissed even though the cop was there.

By the way if you don't have too many tickets that plays a part too when they pull you over.

I Have only been pulled over once but that was due to speeding which i got taken of by being polite.

Ok so speaking by what i know since i completed a Police foundations 2 year courses...cops can pull you over simply because they are a loud to for such reasons as not having insurance, tags, or just to see if you have been drinking. All my profs. said if you are nice right away you will be let off with no problems, but there is always the case where a cop is in a bad mood and will take it out a tuner. So ya if you guys got any questions about cop problems give me a shout thanks. Paul.

First let me say, i would have deserved what i could have got, but i thought this cop was great.

So i have the temp sticker for ten days and it was expired. i didnt have my insurance card yet because my company forgot to send it. So i get pulled over for the sticker, its expired, the cop says i cant prove i have insurance and that it would be towed/impounded and i'd have some pretty big fines. i talked to him and told him some stuff bout me in the past and what not, and he came back and gave me a ticket for not displaying insurance card which was for 50 bucks. he told me when i get my insurance card, go fight it and tell them quote "some stupid cop pulled you over and you couldnt find it in your glove box" and they'll drop it. and he said he'd not give a ---- and look the other way as i drive off with my car illegal lol.

Some cops are ok... i seem to get the dicks tho... i had both insurance and ownership but they were in my gym bag in the trunk i offered to let the cop search my stuff but since it was only me and him on a dark stretch her forbid me to get out the car while attempting to unclip his gun so i kept me *** quiet and took both tickets then fought them and waste d a ton of time...

I sometimes carry my RPG in the car, you never know..

But then I guess you can't blame them for being too careful. It can be a dangerous city, after all

the best part, just remain silent, answer question he wants, and just listen their what they want to lecture you.

otherwise, they will make a note of this ticket, and make your life very difficult to get away afterward.

i'm fine getting a ticket once in a while, as a trade off for having the idiots that stop in the middle of the road because there lost and confused getting a ticket. cops do serve a purpose, lol its just a trade off the way i look at it.

just you let some people know... when you get a parking ticket, the **** sucker takes a picture of you car too.. in 3 different angles,, so if you decide to take it to court and try to bullshit your way out and you get OWNED HARD! when he pulls out with a couple of pics of how, when and why he gave you that ticket in the first place, ... dont be shocked.

Nothing a bit of colouring can't fix.

But that I did'nt know. I suppose that one depends on who exactly issues your ticket, if it's Vaughan's By-Law enforcement, then chances are yes. Some cops though, I don't exactly see carrying around a camera..

cops are A** when it comes to tuners. i was leaving my house and at the stop sign near my house i get pulled over Ms. Officer because my headlights weren't on at 4 p.m., in the end she gave me a muffler ticket. they just pull you over thinking you know nothing about the law. once you show them you know exactly whats going on you can either walk away with a small ticket or get screwed big time.

Well by law your car comes with DRL's and they should be on during the day, that's why they are called day time running lights, they are made to be on in the day, it helps people see you coming from a distance, so they were just doing there job, so don't be mad at them when it's your own fault for braking the law by not having then working properly.
