Default front wheel noise.

its been a month since i got my skunk 2 pro coils, and rims installed and everything has been a-ok untill about a week ago.
i dont know what the noise exactly is but its only coming from the passenger side front wheel when i hit bumps. it has to be a moderate to excessive bump or divot on the road. from the slowest of speeds to highway speeds.
no clue what this might be but my guess is something to do with suspension. it kinda sounds like something has come loose, maybe the wheel? the noise has gotten substantially louder over the course of 3 days...
any ideas??
thanks

the only way to find what it is, is to put the front up in the air, check the wheels for play, then take the wheel off and check all youre suspension components for any excessive play or knocking.

Most likely sway bar bushings. If they were worn and on their last leg, the drop put extra load on the joints causing it to pop and now make noise.

Hell I wouldn't be surprised if the bolt that holds the bar down on lca fully broke off. Happened to me before...not a biggie.

I would simply raise the car look for anything visable and go from there and according to what your saying there should be something that will get notice once you pop your head underneath your car.

I believe it to be a wheel bearing, try driving with your passenger side window down or drive by a friend on the corner of your street, have him listen for any noises. Check when turning right and or left to see if he can hear it. I know you say you only hear it when going over bumps, but my wheel bearing had gone, and was experiencing the same types of things. Sometimes it would get worst as I hit a bump.

It looks like everyone has a great guess and that it what it is. A "Noise" particularity a knocking sound on bumps that gets worse needs immediate attention!

I let this go on may car for about 2 weeks then my lower ball joint popped out! The wheel assembly pulled out away from the car and there I was in traffic with my suspension dragging the ground!

Get this checked now. Either do this yourself or to a mechanic. Many mechanics will give you free estimates. The simple check to do yourself when the car is raised with a jack is by grabbing the wheel on the left and right and try moving it back and forth. If you feel "play" in there its your tie rod end. Its most likely the outer but could be the inner. Rarely do they make noise but are more apperent as when the go they effect the steering of your car more than anything.

Now grab the wheel top and bottom. again try moving it. If you feel play it could be the lower OR upper ball joint. Inspect... sometimes a pry bar is needed to move the arms to see if there is any play inside the joint.

Wheel bearing.... yes while driving you may be able to hear the noise when "loading" the bearing with left and right turns at low speed.

Sway bar link kit or bushings.... this is just a visual. You will see if they are gone.

Also check all parts that have been recently installed to make sure bolts and nuts are tight! I once left the upper struts mount nuts hand toght and in 2 weeks they loosened severely causing a lOT of noise.

But look now! The last thing you want is to call for a $250 tow off of the middle of a street or worse have this come apart on the 401.

Good luck! Let us know what it was.

And great responses by everyone... looks like we all have encountered front end noises and repairs.
