Default Front Knuckles.... ????

I have a DA and I'm looking into upgrading the calipers. Everyone seems to be all over the Legend caliper upgrade, but I read in Honda Tuning that EF's and DA's require a front knuckle from an EG/EK or DC.

What exactly does the front knuckle have to do with the caliper? Isn't it just the part that connects the front upper control arm with the lower control arm? Can someone help clarify this for me?

Also, if it is necessary, how much do these parts go for?

Thanks in advance!

You do not need any different front knuckles to run the Legend calipers. And you will need a hub centric rings for the Legend rotors to work.

What exactly are hub centric rings? Does that apply to prelude rotors as well?

So basically, with regards to the calipers, do I just shave down the mounting point like it shows in the magazine?

Dam I wish I could find the post. I do not remember exactly what you are suppose to do, but the knuckles did not have to be changed. I will try to find you some more info.

About the ring. You have your Legend rotor. In the middle of the rotor, their is a hole that sits on the hub. Well in the case of the Legend rotor, it is bigger then the integra rotor, so your going to have to fabricate a ring that will fit over the lip on the hub, and will be big enough to fill in the gap made by the bigger hole on the Legend rotor. This is sort of a crappy explanation, but I'll try to get some pics to make it easier to understand.

I don't think the prelude rotors will be a problem.

WTF? Brakes just slow you down.....

Save your money and get a turbo instead. Go fast, not slow!

Notice the rings on the right side

And in this you can see the lip in the center where the rotor sits, and also the centering rings installed

And if you read through this thread, you will find lots of good info:

Mikes teg: Thanks for the info and pictures! Where can those rings be purchased? Or do they have to be custom made? Also, do I need to grind down the bracket? I see that it was done on the EK, but does that apply to DA's as well?

Sorry for the load of questions, but I've searched over and over again in g2ic.com and couldn've find much relavent info... or at least info that didn't contradict each other. I also read an article on H-T but it was refering to g3 tegs so I wasn't sure if it applied to g2's.

To be more exact, I will most likely be picking up calipers from an NA1 NSX... from my understanding they are the same as Legend calipers in terms of mounting points. Mounting offset I have no clue of...

I don't know if they are the same or not as the NSX. The rings in those pictures were custom made. The brackets were ground down. If you find the rest of his pictures on pg.2 you will see the flat surfaces. That is the part that was ground down.

Ahhhh, okay. I guess the only way to figure out the mounting points is to just try it on the car. One last thing... where can I get rotors re-drilled?

Thanks again for you help, Mike.

any machine shop can drill the rotors... it's probably better to use 97-01 prelude rotors i think the hub fits better....the article on H-T can apply to G2's as our brake calipers rotors and pads are pretty much identical
