you'll need a floor jack too cus you gota sort of support you motor when you undue your mount. but the motor can hang there, its just give you more room if you jack it up a bit. and make sure you clean the mating surface really well, so you dont have a leak later. just make sure you know what your doing. seriously. timing isnt just something you diy cus you want too. i dont know your abilities but judging by the fact you didnt know what either of those noises were, i would be very concerned if you tried this yourself. no offense, just my 2 cents. |
Yea, you dont want to do this if you havnt done it.

trial and error my friend lol, of course id also get someone that knows what their doing to kinda guide\help me,

****UPDATE!!!****
Okay so I was talking with JDM_Overdose over bbm and msn and we were trying to narrow down wtf this noise was, i found out the other day that it was comming from under my valve cover, so i took it off and checked everything, but nothing looked messed up...then JDM told me to check under the cover to see if theres any marks and i did and there was a chunk missing so i looked around the gears and belt to see wtf would of done this... and that stupid ass noise was... a bolt...rofl i have no idea how it got in there, im assuming a little hole at the back?? but took the bolt out, put everything together and my motor is SILENT!! :D pics to follow lol |

omg. the pics on here look way worse then on bbm.
Glad to help a fellow DA`er out. so I guess u wana change that belt now:P |
i think thats a bolt that holds on the back of the timing cover.
|
^ i agree
damn wtf your lucky it didnt get caught under the teeth |
lol, i still cant believe thats what was causing the noise, i laughed for like an hour when i seen that, everytime i looked at the bolt i burst out laughing, noone else around me found it funny:jeez:lol
|
i wouldn't laugh if it happened to me. that's some serious ----. ---- that destroys motors. you're worried about spending up to $800 on a timing belt job when you should be counting your lucky stars that it's not an engine swap.
|
that could be timing belt cover bolt, but it wouldnt have just "fallin" in there. the bolts are on the out side of the cover, they have no way to get in really. i cant 100% tell, put it also looks like a water pump bolt too. honestly, i'd get your car looked at for sure.... IMHO for a bolt to be in there, thats wack. and the fact you drove around all this time with it like that not doing anything about it, thats wack too. get your ---- looked at, cus buff is right, that slips under the belt, bye bye motor. then you'd be smacking yourself going "why didnt i just spend a lil dough to get it looked at instead of driving for a month like this :$
|
well i just find it funny how out of all things, its a bolt INSIDE :S
and ya i was talking to my dad gets gona get it looked at and ill have to pay him back when i can find my ass a job lol |
