Default engine wire harness question..

hey TI i was just did some reasearch on google and on here and i couldent find the right info, but heres the question .....

i have just picked up a jdm b18c and id LIKE to, dont have to but i would like to run obd 1 or 2 doesent matter ....and i was wondering how much work it would be to do the engine harness, is it possible????

the reason for getting a whole new harness is cause id like to do a wire tuck at the same time and i wanna get rid of all my cruis controle and ABS ---- lol ...

so is it just take out old harness put new in or do i have to hack stuff ???

IUNO PLEASE HELP ME OUT GUYS..whats your opinion to run my b18c, without the abs and cruzz in the harness/ecu lol
thanks a million TI .....

oh and one more question...

does anyone kno how to regulate the fuel i have a 91 4 door and it smokes a bit and it smells really fuelly lol doesent that mean to much fuel??

Hey, when I did my swap I decided to keep my harness and just add the things I needed. The reason I kept the old harness was the fact that the new one was all cut out and I thought I would add the wires that I only need such as the Vtec wire and so fourth.

As for removing a harness you really just gotta unplug a bunch of stuff but it won't be a hack job. I say if you get your hands on a non cut harness the replace and remove the abs and whatever else you want. If you remove your abs and whatever else you had it all depends what the ecu reads. Like my car is running without abs but the motor was in a previous Type R which had ABS and i'm having no problems I have a cel light on but I think that's from a different reason (o2 sensors)

But let us know what the harness is and so fourth.

But if I stick with mi harness which is a 91 4 door teg ..if I we're to find a vtec ecu it will only be for a 1.7 won't that mess with mi motor running wise ?

^You can run an OBDI ecu but it must be a chipped p28 and you must have it tuned by a shop like hivelocity tuning. A good way to get a few more horses from the engine too...

I don't know the details of going from OBD0 to OBDI... Maybe Martin or someone else could answer that...

I know for tuning an OBDII engine you must use and OBDII to OBDI harness and chipped p28 ecu...But if the harness is OBD0, that I do not know...You might be able to use a chipped OBD0 ecu...

I pretty sure they have something to make it an OBD-I From OBD-0...When I asked EngineLand for a quote on making my motor/ecu go from OBD-II to OBD-I They quoted me around $250 for everything all I needed was the harness to converted which they provide. I would give them a call and find out from them they deal with this everyday.

ok..

oh and im srry to cgange the subject but is all the torque specs from a b17a the same as the b18c cause i have mi haynes manual and was curious if they would be the same torque specs

crank,head ,cams etc..

i guess ill just try and do more research , but changing the whole engine harness might be the easiest way to go lol

you can use an obd0-obd1 harness for the ecu. you'll have to get the distributor conversion harnesses as well. you'll need to run a chipped ecu with a b18c map on it. depending on the software used to program the ecu you can check for codes by simply turning the key to the on position, pressing the gas pedal to the floor, and counting the blinks on the CEL. that's how mine is set up

didn't you get a distributor with the swap? i got mine at Engineland. complete and new for under $200. just mount and plug in and you're good to go.

you can reuse your engine harness, you'll have to make modifiations to it though. some sensors on the engine will have to be disabled thru the ecu reprogramming like knock and crank positioning. you'll have to run wires for the vtec, 4 wire O2 sensor, and the secondaries in the IM.

you don't really need it, only obd-2 engines had them and you're converting to obd-1.

ebay. any specific brands you interested in?

just replace the one valve with a stock one. no need for aftermarket valves. make sure you send the head in and get all the valves reseated and cut

if you don't have a credit card on the paypal account, it'll take 5-7 business days to get the money to the seller.

the carbon build up on the valves is no big deal, when you pull them out you can clean them or the machine shop can clean them for you.

no, it's your chequing account, so yes. you're best off adding your credit card to your paypal account. payment is instant.
