Engine Swap Info and Assistance Needed
Hey Guys,
I might be taking a big step here and doing a swap. My question is what do I need to swap an H22 (Vtec) in for my B18?? Can I keep my tranny or is that going to need to be changed?:shurg:
Can you guys give me not a laundry list, but say "absolutes" and then a "nice to have if you can get/afford it" list as well.
Is there any big reason why i shouldn't do it either??
All feedback is very much apperciated . . .

Jason it's a pretty difficult swap to put into a teg, you need to find custom mounts and everything, if you have the paitence and a good amount of $$$ i'm sure it will all be worth it
Jay, I'm a manual, not auto. Don't ever intend to drive an auto again. Azar, thanks for the tranny info. Andrew. I figured the motor mounts wouldn't allow for an easy switch as I never heard anyone do this before in a Teg. I know it's an Accord swap normally. Hence me asking.
Smartass.. . . . I wish it were a K20, but that's not what the motor fairies are providing me with, now that brings up another question, what's the price difference if I were to sell/trade an H22 for a k20 assuming both were in good shape?:shurg:
Keep the info coming guys. . . .

bro for the amount of money your gonna end up spending on these motor swaps why not just build a ls/vtec or a b20/vtec.. u can get some great power from any of these frankie's for about the same amount of $$$ that u would invest in a k20/h22 swap. and u can keep the same mounts, linkage etc.. less head aches.
ok, if you want to drop in a H22, then you'll need to contact hasport for their bolt in motor mounts. either than that, you'll need the motor, tranny, ecu, wireing harness and axles to complete the swap, you might need the shift linkage aswell.
It's a lot of work. An ITR swap is easier and they're dropping drastically in price. B20Vtec or LSVtec is also a more economical way to go. No special axels, tuning can be done with a custom dyno tuned chips. H22s are pretty nose heavy and the trannies weigh a ton. Think the LSD is also computer controlled so check in to see what kind of tuning you need for it. Don't think a simple chip will make it work properly - I'd check that if you're looking for an LSD tranny. You can run a B-series tranny on it. There's a company that makes an adapter plate in California, but you're looking at another can of worms for that. Custom axels I believe. The reason they were made was so H22 drag cars could run lighter trannies. Not worth the expense or hassles.
Hey Guys, thanks for all the information. I guess I'll have to figure out a way to get my hands on a B18C5 as I had orginally planned instead!!! I don't need this much hassle to do the swap!!!
Ok Update. I may actaully get that B18C5 now!!! So what if any custom pieces do I now need for this?? Is the R tranny necessary? I know some prefer the GSR tranny with the R engine? This one drops right in, but tuning and ECU's those types of things , what should I pick-up??
and go . . . . .
and go . . . . .
it's a direct swap since they are B series motors .. no custom mounts or axles or linkages
just gotta swap them.. maybe do a few things while the engine is out like... WIRE TUCK THAT ****... Clutch, water pump, timing belt, regular maintence.
