Engine Swap?
Hey everyone..i'm in the process of deciding which engine i want to swap for..but i'm having a lot of trouble deciding..i either want to swap my LS for the B18C5(type r) or the H22a Type S (prelude) the prelude engine has more power and torque then the type R does..but the type R revs out much higher and is built for racing..i can do the full swap for either setup for the same price..i'm just curious as to what other peoples opinions are ..and which others would choose for thier own? I think i may be leaning a little more towards the Type R because it would be easier to modify since it would just be integra parts..and the prelude engine would be a bit harder to tune up since i'd need to have most things custom made right? I dunno any input would be helpful..because i'm kinda stuck in between on what to do.

Go with the Type R motor. It is a straight drop, so you dont have to waste money on a mounting kit and more labour. PLus it is a smaller, lighter motor with a higher rev range and the VTEC is much stronger. I had the 2.2L in my old 93 Prelue SR-V. It was fast, but not as fast as a Typie.
R. It's a beautifully balanced motor that can take huge amounts of abuse. The H22 is heavier but the handling has more to do with where it's heavier. It sits further in front of the front wheels than the type r motor making it harder to corner. Get used to understeer. The R also have far better gearing and doesn't use the computer controlled clutch style LSD that the SH uses (it is an SH you're talkng about right?), which is heavy and clunking. Not even sure how you'd get that to work properly in a swapped car but someone somewhere must have figured it out - you might want to do some research. I personally hate the gearing of the H22 and a FD kit doesn't exist for it yet to make it better. A non-clutch type LSD exists but who really wants to go through that hassle? The ITR tranny is one of the best geared trannies Honda has made. Near perfect gearing IMO. The 4.75 FD tranny is super torquey and pulls better through the gears but also makes for high revving highway drives. You may also need to do some chassis modification with the H as well. Since it has more hp, torque and weight I'd think the last thing you want to do is cut your chassis. More labour for install and more things to go wrong. Besides, more mods for the R - people have been tuning them successfully for some time. For me it's a no brainer.
