Default engine oil and tranny oil

okay guys, this weekend im gonna drop my oil and my tranny fluid. i got a 97 gs teg and ive done my oil changes every 5 k, but really don't know the last time my tranny fluid was flushed. engine oil wise, ive been using just synthetic 5w30 since i work at toyota and just use the free.99 stuff, but was wondering if you guys have any other ideas in terms of what engine oil is better to use. i was gonna put a bottle of that lucas stabilizer stuff in then fill rest with oil, but just wanted some feedback from u guys before i actually do it on saturday. then, in regards to my tranny fluid, i was either gonna go with royal purple or redline. i read on the net that synthetic tranny oil is good, and some say its not. feedback would be great guys!

Don't but lucas in unless you need it. 5w30 is what is surrpost to be in there, so don't go with a thicker oil. I use ATF in mine for my 5 speeds. It helps keep everything cleaners, plus it will shift smoother as well.

You should fix that leak.

Yeah most older hondas oil pans start leaking over time. Fix the leak. Lucas is designed to stop some ticking noise, stop the engine from burning oil a little bit. Just like Luv my 95 teg said, it's not designed to stop leaks.

Ya definitely fix your oil pan gasket, its not hard. I've been using Valvoline full synthetic 5w30 in my JDM B20 and JDM B18C (R) and I love it.

As for transmission oil I have been using GM Synchromesh Friction Modified MTF, its expensive like Royal Purple and Redline but its ------- good. I've been using it for years, with two different B16 cable transmissions and now my ITR S80 transmission, it is freaking good stuff. Do a little searching you'll find tonnes of people praising this stuff. Also you can't go wrong with good old Honda MTF.
