Default Engine Oil dissapearing? HELP.

Hey Guys,

My last oil change only about 1 L came out the oil pan. So about 2-3 weeks after my oil change, i decided to check the dip stick, and it showed less then half the oil was left. I'm wondering where the oil is going? can i be burning oil that quickly? and no there aren't any oil stains on my driveway. Thats where i'm confused, because if the oil isn't there or dripping on the floor where the hell could it be going? Btw i'm getting about 400km to a tank of gas, if someone could shed some light on this, i'd appreciate that. Thanks in Advance.

Sounds like its burning it since you say it doesn't leak.
-and yes, its possible to burn "that" much oil, it pretty much depends on the condition of the motor and driving conditions.

A compression test/leakdown test should reveal where the problem lies.

Thanks for the info, anybody else feel free to chime in with your opinion.
Btw how much does a compression test/leakdown test cost usually?

sounds like oil burning to me.... my old civic was the same way.
look at the bright side, its the perfect reason (well, almost perfect) for an engine swap, especially with the CDN Dollar situation.

1 litre in 2 weeks is a huge amount, you should be able to see/smell it easily

Not necessarily, that could just be carbon buildup from running too rich..

just do your own compression test using the rubber hose through the spark plug hole, screw it in, check the compression, and that should alert you as to whether its piston rings or valve seals.... u better hope its only valve seals lol

the specs for compression are as follows:

92-93 b18a1
nominal: 199 psi
minimum: 135 psi
max var: 28 psi

92-93 b17a
nominal: 199 psi
minimum: 135 psi
max var: 28 psi

gen 3
94-01 b18b1
nominal: 199 psi
minimum: 135 psi
max var: 28 psi

94-01 b18c1
nominal: 270 psi

I'm leaning towards that as well too. My friends 93 Integra burned a shitload of oil and only had 211 XXX km on it. The valve lash just badly needed to be adjust since we dont have hydraulic lifters. How loud is your engine when idling might also help lol. Just remember though its always gonna be louder then something with quiet hydraulic lifters.
