Default engine light (1900 rpms)

i recently did a swap and been drivig the car for weeks maybe months now and i still get an engine light but the engine light turns off evrytime i shut the car off...when i go to restart the car the lights off and doesnt come bac on untill i drive around a bit and start coming to a stop

cruising around at about 3k rpms the light will stay off but then as i approach a light and slow down in gear when the rpms reach about 1900 the cel comes on and doesnt shut off untill i shut off the car and start it up again

if i drive around and thro my car into nuetral b4 it reaches under 2000 rpms the light wont come on... it seems theres something triggering the cel as i deccelerate and and hit 1900 rpms

i ahvent read the blinks on my ecu i have a obd2 reader but my car is obd0 and im not sure exactly what or where to look to read the codes i hear theres a blinking light on the ecu under the passenger side dash i just dont think ill diagnose it right like that

ill admit i have a speedo cable missing but i would assume the cel would come on ryte away or as soon as i move if it was for the speedo cable

my alternater belt alos seems a tad loose it makes a bit of a wooing noise specially wen hot i put a new belt on with the swap but maybe didnt tighten it perfect

i dunno id just feel better with the cel off never had a cel with my old motor

Nop, the cel may not come on for a long while. When I was driving around with no speedo cable, sometimes it would take 30s and sometimes 5mins.

Find the plug you jump, uncover the ecu, it will have an led in the centre of the cover. When you jump the plug, the led on ecu will start flashing. Long blinks are 10s, short blinks are 1s

emang, why would you think you could not properly diagnose the problem by retrieving the code from the ecu? Generally, if the CEL comes on, the ecu thinks there is something wrong with the input from one of the sensors. So you get the code and start from there. It's the best place to start any CEL diagnosis. lol.

Do as Martin says and go from there.

Most likely it's because you have no speedo cable.

pull back the carpet over the ecu and turn the key to the on position, you should get a code 12 (1 long blink and 2 short) and it's because your speedo cable is not connected.
