Default Engine Check Light On Again............

Hey everyone....last month my engine check light was on. I was getting lower kms per tank so I brought it in.

CHECK CODES-1457-E.V.A.P. LEAK-RESET-DID NOT COME BACK ON -COULD HAVE BEEN LOOSE CAP OR INTERMITTENT FAILURE-
138300 .5HRS EVAP CODE 1457 LEAK CAN SYSTEM IF LIGHT SHOULD COME BACK ON SAME CODE WILL NEED FURTHER DIAGNOSIS SEE ADVISOR THANK YOU.....

Waste of money cuz they told me there was nothing wrong. I went to montreal for new years and probably about last week or so the light came back on. I am now getting less kms again and I paid for nothing if its the same problem. What should I do? Its a **** off because the first time I took it in for the light they said that there was nothing wrong and it could have been a lose cap or something, I don't really touch my caps so... how could it have happend again? is there a way i can fix this without paying that stupid engine diagnosis fee?

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Also I have a 01 integra se, chezzy short ram with a k&n filter and a fart can LoL. I don't every get to 500 kms a tank. Is there something wrong? I also haven't gotten a tune up or anything like that for probably a lil while now. Is that the problem or is there something else?
Anyways thanks again.

Driving spiritedly I only get 425 km per tank in my 99SE, I might get 500km in the city but only if i dont rev past 4K so i dont think 500km per tank is bad gas mileage!?

LoL i'm not to sure? I've read a car that was for sale... an integra that stated that it would get 500 kms per tank easily. So I was just wondering perhaps that my car is crap? hahaha well as long as I am not the only one getting low kms per tank.

My Teg only gets about 450 to 470 on the hwy and I am usually doing 130ish... even when i thought I was driving it to fast, so I slowed it down one time and did about 110 and still only got about 475

i never got 500km to a tank even then it was stock.....i don't believe anyone who said they do.....impossible.

if you are getting over 400km during the winter you are doing really good. winter conditions/cold and winter gas WILL give you shitty gas mileage period.

as for your check engine light problem.....EVAP system is a real pain in the *** to diagnose. chances are there might be a very small leak in EVAP system. or one of the EVAP sensors went bad. it wont cause you to have bad gas mileage it just means the EVAP system is not working correctly. but who gives a ---- it's only for emissions anyway.

take it back to the place who diagnosed it for you the first time. they should not charge you again if it's the same problem. if they do then tell them to ---- off.

good luck

hmmmm....i dont know....you must do mostly highway driving and hardly push the throttle......or you ECU is tuned to run leaner in most engine vacuum regions of the fuel maps.

bone stock the best i could do was 450-470MAX and that was driving like grandma.....

now its all crap...if i can get a week out of the tank I'm happy.....haha.....

the evap system does contribute ever so slightly to fuel economy...just when your ecu knows it needs a little more, thats when it purges those vapors into the engine...just to save a little more fuel...

could be a leak somewhere...

i get 550 kms / tank right now in the winter and like 600+ on avg in summer on my car... while i do a lot of "highway" driving.. its usually going 10 kms an hour in morning traffic and still pull those numbers... i think a bone stock (like mine) without pushing it with highway should get 600 kms if you keep up maintenance... my cars at 200K+ kms and still get great gas mileage

I get around 450-470 usually, if I cruise at 100-120kph I get 500km. I can show u at a meet, I keep all gas receipts and when I'm done I write down the mileage I got for that tank. I'm always stuck in rush hour traffic, so I don't really consider it "all highway".

It's all in driving style though, I can heel-toe each gear down to first and get 300km a tank, or I can engine break all day long and get 400km's, I just don't do it cause all it does is waste gas.

Yesterday in the civic I got 613km for 39L, but that's a D series.
