Dying Engine, viable options
So, I've got a 1990 RS 2-door with 200XXX on it and the engine is going, it idles insanely rough and I can't seem to figure it out... I run 91-94 in it all the time and it runs much better in the warmer weather than it did in the cold weather. It's kind of at the point where I don't wanna sink too much money into it for a temp fix. So... as I'm not really into mods, would an engine swap be a viable option?
I mean... I love the car and it's a great car to drive, but it's on in years. I've already replaced the suspension on it with GSR shocks and springs and the quarter panels have already been totally redone, as well as a bran new exhaust so I would rather not junk it. Just looking for an opinion as to whether a swap would be worth it? Nothing crazy... just something maybe with a little more pep. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

B20. more pep, keep the cost low and very easy to do
before you replace the motor have you tried giving it a full tune up? 200,000 isn't that much. go in depth with the tune up clean your IACV and FITV
my 90RS runs like a clock and it's got 250,xxx+ on it. i got it with 163,xxx
My 91RS on the other hand had the motor replaced at 350,000

go through your ignition again. inspect the plugs, wires, cap, replace rotor. next go to fuel, listen to see if the fuel pump is priming, check injectors to see if they are dirty or clogged and perhaps change out the fuel filter. you might solve the problem and save yourself the cost of a swap, and if not then all of those parts will be interchangeable with the new swap so you will be up to date on maintence.
