dumptubes: re-routing vs. open
personally i like the re-routing. it is harder to fabricate in most cases, but i guess it is just the environmentalist in me. :-\
i didn't do all the fab work in these pics. the first set all i did was the dump tube. the second setup i just did the downpipe. both ram horns are well made, but neither is backpurged and the second one does not have any welding on the inside of the flanges where the runners meet the head and the collector meets the turbo flange. i would recommend adding that atleast if you build your own manifold. i don't think it is necassary to backpurge in most cases and obviously these two manifold fabricators feel the same. i do however back purge my downpipes since the material is thinner and in most cases you do get full penatration.
open dump tube:
why the manifold placed the wg over towards the driver's side i was told it was originally going in a civic and that was the only way the manifold builder could make it fit, but then they decided to put the setup in an integra and didn't want me to cut off the wg elbow for fear it would void the warranty on the manifold. :P
this setup i did just the downpipe but i had to modify the manifold from having a 38mm wg straight out front to having an elbow for the synapse wg because the owner was afraid it might hit the upper rad support. obviously he wasn't concerned about a manifold warranty, or maybe it doesn't come with one. it would probably have been easier to run the dump tube straight out the front, but i decided to run the dump tube behind the downpipe to save space out front and to help keep a clean looking setup.

excellent fabrication work.
i feel there is no need for an open wastegate dump tube on a street car. the power gains (if any at all) is so little and you are just gonna stink up the passenger compartment. plus to me it sounds like ***......i would rather head the turbo spool than what sounds like a loud exhaust leak.
I'm curious to see how that synapse wastegate works.....i wish there was more feedback on them from actual people who use them.....i guess i'll just have to wait.

i'm definately gunna get weiRtech (aaron) to route my dumptube back into my exhaust when i get some coin saved up.
I'm gettin sick of the stinky passenger compartment....its not that bad, but still, on a daily driver, it gets old quick.
And yes, those synapse wastegates are SICK!!!
