Default Driving without power steering fluid???

My 1g Eagle Talon TSI's power steering line has leaked all the fluid. Is it safe to drive without damaging the power steering pump permanently? Also, how much would something like this cost to replace?

Thanks!

Yes. Damage is caused by heat from excess friction. Try filling it up first before replacing it. Not sure what replacement costs are for power steering but the cheapest way to find a replacement is do a search of local wreckers on car-parts.com.

I'd remove the drive belt from the pump first. The fluid also lubricates the rack, so it won't get damaged right away, but you cannot drive permanently without it.
