Default Do I need a new transmission??? UPDATE!!!!! PICTURES

So here the story goes I get a call from my sister saying she was going up a ramp and she heard a bang. She said there was smoke and the car no longer goes into gear but starts. She never told me where the smoke was coming from. It is a 5 speed gsr tranny. I am at school right now so I can't really get anymore details or see the car. What do you guys think is the issue?

^lol no. If clutch "cable" snaps its just gonna be in gear at all times.
Unfortunately you probably do not know the smell that was there, if there was. Most likely clutch is burned and one of the springs may have broken off and that's what caused the bang. Was it a stock clutch or aftermarket?

It was a stage 2 clutch. Its on a 95 GSR tranny to clearify things more. I'm still at school so I still haven't even seen it in person.

How badly did you beat it Spike? :P

Send me a price for an Auto to Manual conversion, including your labour and obviously all the other parts. (Obviously including the price you are charging for your tranny)

A rough estimate

it was prolli the clutch like scrid3r said..prolli one of the springs from the driven plates popped..i remember something similar happening..try holding the clutch down and giving it some gas and shift it to a gear to see if it goes into gear..if it does then it's the clutch i can assure you

Update again lol. So I found a stage two clutch locally. When I went to drop it off at the shop I finally saw the car for myself. The previous owner claimed there was a stage 2 clutch already installed but it clearly wasn't. There was a plate broken in 3 pieces it cracked my tranny. I have pics but don't know how to upload them. When I find out I will do it. I should figure out by tonight how to do so.

That's exedy stage 2-cerametalic clutch correct? Always wondered about those make sure you let us know how it feels driving it.
Also why do you need stage 2? What mods do you have or what do you have planned?
