distributor plastic dust cover

i replaced my distributor cap and rotor today..and damm that screw holding the rotor was a bitch... anywyas as i opened it..."the plastic dust cover" of the distributor behind the rotor is loose...like the top is intact but the sides and bottom are loose... and when i was done...it sounds like its making a vibrating sound inside...

thats not ours but the grey cover ...was loose...its not completely loose but if you wiggle it it really wiggles...

anyways i was wondering...if that's a big concern?...its just annoying but if i have to replace the whole dist...then ill just leave it if it doesnt affect anything.

did you maybe see why it is loose...something to make it loose cuz if I remeber it slides on and is snug so don't really understand why it's loose maybe snap some pics of your setup right now and we will see it better...

dam i just closed it...lol.. i think it came loose cause of the oil.... and i believe the oil came cause i need to replace the oring.. but i dont have the tools to do a timing..... but does the cover affect anything though?....i might change the o ring and and possibly the cover if i find one..and when i can get a hold of some timing tools..

btw..damm thats a fresh paint...

If there was oil, it may start splashing on the contact points. Replace the o-ring and dont worry about the cover.

what about the timing?

D.T.P 12-05-2010 10:38 AM

What about timing? Mark/eye ball it back to the same location.
