FuzzyLS BRO 06-13-2008 08:55 PM

looks good! keep goin, but if you want them to bling more you gotta sand it with 2000 gritt alot more and then rub the mothers polish into them.

i'm impressed ! lookin' good.

matryx 06-13-2008 10:37 PM

when you guys polish the rims, do you also do the rim wheel barrel also or just the face of the rim?

93Da_Chik 06-14-2008 05:20 AM

i did the insides ( between the spokes ) bcuz they were also painted and its a bitch lol

1DA2NV 06-14-2008 05:45 AM

wow your on your way! looking real nice IMO cant wait to see them shine in the sunlight lol, you can get those looking almost like chrome, seen it on HT before some guy worked on em for like 2 weeks or something like that and they came out super shiny

BIDZGSR 06-14-2008 09:17 AM

How long did you leave the stripper on the rims before you started scrapping at it? theres still small spots of clear on my rims:S

Nawaaz 06-14-2008 11:14 AM

Wow... looks really good, love the way its looking:yeah:

there was so many coats of paint on my rims i put one coat of thinner on n left it for like 10 minutes n scraped it n then another coat n left it for like 20 minutes n let it eat away till it came off like butter apply the thinner really thick it works better IMO:yeah:

93Da_Chik 06-14-2008 02:12 PM

also neone else have ne better ideas on what to scrape the paint off with i still have 2 more rims to go and i find this plastic putty knife aint workin too well expecially inbetween the spokes n grooves not to bad on the surface..

DJINFERNO806 06-14-2008 02:45 PM

use a drywall scraper or a cement scraper, should work awesome.

93Da_Chik 06-14-2008 04:19 PM

ya i was using a metal one but i was afraid of it scratching them

DJINFERNO806 06-14-2008 04:50 PM

your gonna have to sand it anyways no? so dont worry im sure any small scratches will come off.

Nawaaz 06-14-2008 05:06 PM

yea... use the metal ones.

FuzzyLS BRO 06-14-2008 05:39 PM

if you want to do it the lazy way, put a shitload of stripper on them, let it do it's work real nice, then take a power washer to them. messy, but easier and faster.

hell, just take the rims to a coin wash and strip them there..lol that's what i did with my valve cover, engine block, head.

slickkhan 06-14-2008 05:56 PM

ye just make sure you buy tthe mothers aluminum polish after that is what makes it look BLING after.

93Da_Chik 06-14-2008 09:21 PM

93Da_Chik 06-15-2008 03:36 PM

OK SOOOOO....im outside workin on my rims now, and i dont know if neone had ever noticed on SIR's theres little tiny grooves on the surface of the rim and im trying to get thoes out to make it nice n smooth i did it to one rim lol and i dont exactly have alot of energy left to do another 3 does neone know if i can use an attatchment on like a drill...that i can just attatch the sand paper to or somethin i was using a dremel with an attatchment but it wasnt helping and i didnt wanna take ne chances with it lol

HELP!!!

93Da_Chik 06-15-2008 05:50 PM

neone lol?

teggboi 06-15-2008 08:29 PM

loool ignoredddddd, k well i dunno what is happening but if u need a faster want to sand down something, I know there are big cylinders with sand paper around them and u can attached it to a drill and sand that way. I'm sure u wont hurt ur rims because its just the same as sanding by hand but faster and uses less effort. I hope I helped? ORRRR you can try a small "random orbiting sander"! =D

koopdogg 06-15-2008 08:39 PM

pick up a small mouse style sander and a variety of grits... you need some larger grit to take out the tiny grooves. then work your way up to the 2000 grit and then with a buffing wheel or polisher.

93Da_Chik 06-16-2008 02:39 PM

thanx guys!:D

sky 06-17-2008 10:26 AM

how's the process going? i really wanna do this to my set of GSR blades. is it really hard? my boy is doing his set but he does it whenever he has free time. i wanna do my set in a weekend as i work monday-friday. where did you get your paint stripper from?

93Da_Chik 06-17-2008 06:08 PM

everything is from canadian tire, its VERY time consuming tho if ur blades arent painted like mine were u dont have as much to worry about lol and my rims from factory have a machining groove in them so i have to sand all thoes out to make them nice n smooth but over all i'd say to make them look nice ATLEAST 5-6 hours a rim if ur doing it all by hand, my process is comming along ok i had to buy a palm sander tho cuz i pulled muscles in my back puttin too much force into my sanding lol and unless u work day n night ur not going to get them all done in one weekend
