I did a compression test on my engine just for curiosity today, and I found that the engine loses compression. I get up to 160 in all cylinders, then the pressure slowly decreases, seeing this happen I let out the pressure by hitting the release valve as soon as it hit 120. I am very upset, don't have money to do a rebuild? Don't know what to do.

Although, the engine certainly does not seem to lack any power what so ever, vtec kicks in hard at about 5000 rpm, pulls hard, no overheating problems,
went around my block like 6 times and hitting vtec at certain straight aways, going 80 in a 40 zone. Doesn't make sense

If your not getting problems then I wouldn't tackle anything that doesn't need fixing...seeing low compression is a sign of motor aging ---- happens but I wouldn't worry about it to much.

Let's see what some of our more "mechanical" members will say.

thanks paul, I definitely won't tackle anything especially if I don't notice anything, do you think possibly my compression tester can be faulty? I actually did the test again and put the gauge on the valve cover so I could see it under the hood while cranking. All 4 cylinders go up to 180, but the gauge doesn't hold the reading after about 2 seconds it quickly loses psi from 180,179,178,177...120,110, after that I pushed the release button to let the air out. This happens for all 4 cylinders. I had the throttle floored and cranked it 5 times.

Is it possible it can be my compression tester itself? (maybe a faulty one)

^I think maybe you didn't have the compression tester fully threaded in tight enough to keep it sealed. Either that or that gauge is broken. Compression testers are supposed to hold the peak pressure. They are not supposed to "leak", until you press the release button.

Your engine is probably fine.

After doing alot of research and asking around, I was able to find out that the schrader valve in the compression test tube(looks exactly like the ends in tires to keep the air in) was lose. I tightened it with a tire valve tool and it worked.

^Those are pretty decent numbers.

Fresh B-series vtec engines are usually around 200+.
