Cluthc squeal in first gear?
Im just wondering if anyone knows what the issue is that im having,
From a stand still start at approx 1500 - 2000rpm in first gear i hear a loud squeal from the transmission, (sounds like tires screeching) I have a 3 puck stage 2 exedy with a 8.5 fly, (bought new and been in the car for approx 1500 km)
The clutch does not slip and the car drives fine, just the extremely loud noise is a bother!
ANY INPUT WOULD BE GREAT! thanks!

I just started getting the same noise in first but it didn't happen all the time. I thought it was the clutch at first but then I noticed the noise is from the drvers side of the car. I dont have P/steering or AC anymore so I tightened my alternator belt and it went away.

im pretty sure its not my belts due to the fact that when i release off the clutch pedal lightly, you can hear it faintly or if i release the pedal normally (esp. on upward hills) you can hear the screetching much louder!
thanks again

I haven't noticed the noise since I adjusted the belt but I also don't drive my car often. Its possible that it just hasn't happened again yet.
Trust me I know the sound your describing perfectly. I had the exact same sound and your right it was more often when stopped facing uphill. Odd thing was that it didn't happen everytime so I thought maybe I was slipping the clutch too much. I have an ACT extreme 6 puck cluch kit with an ACT 12 lb flywheel. Only have 1400 on the clutch/motor setup.
Question did you put in a new pilot bearing or reuse your old one?
Reason I ask is everythign else in mine was brand new clutch, flywheel, pressure plate and release bearing. I reused my pilot bearing cause I forgot to buy a new one and it was 3am when I was installing everything. I dunno if that has anything to do with the noise but just trying to see what else could cause it.
If you figure it out please share

Your clutch is glazed.
I have the same issue with my Bully Stage 3, 6 puck sprung clutch.
Wear it down too quickly (ie. dropping the clutch, high rev launches, RACING, etc) will basically melt the surface of the clutch disk and give you that delightful screech on engagements...
Only real remedy is to replace the clutch disk... Or you can just drop the clutch everytime you launch... :P
Something i've been trying to experiment with is seeing if it's possible to wear off the layer of glazing... the more civilized i drive, the quieter it seems to become.

^^ Crap I hope thats not it cause the ---- is brand new. I've been babying the clutch so far cause I was breaking in the new clutch and motor. No launches, no racing and didn;t even pass 3000 RPM for like the first 5000K, didn't even touch vtec until over 1000K's.
Ah well, gonna pull it apart in the spring and check it out. Hopefully its the Pilot bearing (its cheaper )

Well, i hope it's the pilot bearing, too... I had mine go out on me twice :@
But, in all reality, it's most likely your clutch; even if you stayed in low rpm's during your break in, if you dropped it too rough, or took to long to engage it (rode the clutch) then your gonna develop some glazing.
