Chipped Key + A/C Help !!
Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone can suggest some helpful tips for the following;
- What is the cheapest option to get an extra key cut for my 2000 integra? I need to swap keys with my neighbour because we share a parking space but I can't find the spare key and I hear they are quite costly at the dealership.
- I've noticed my A/C isn't blowing cold air, has anyone found a cheap place to get a refill/ charge? I know they have kits for cheap in the US but I don't have the time to drive out there. Can anyone refer me to a place that won't charge more than $50-$75, I don't want to pay extra for the inspection + leak check.
Look forward to your respones,
Cheers,
Nejo

If it has a chip then you have to go to the dealership. It's gonna cost about $120-150 for a new key.
As for the A/C you have no choice but to take it to canadian tire/speedy/midas of some sort of shop because they don't sell the refill cans here. It could also be because you have a small leak somewhere or your A/C fan isn't working. The one on the driver side.

the cheapest way would be to take a hacksaw or dremel and remove the transponder chip from the key nub and tape it to the ignition tumbler and then get another regular key cut for a couple of bucks. your car will no longer really have a functional factory immobilizer, but it's not the greatest theft deterent anyway...

Chipped Key + AC
Quick update for those that might need the info for future reference. I got the key done at the dealership downtown for $85.00. They charge $35 for the key and $50 to program it. As for the A/C I got a refill done by a local referal for $50.00 but I hear the going rate is $80 if you can find someone that will do it without the whole inspection and leak fill stuff.
Love having my cold A/C.
