Default chasis code clarification

Hey guys, been a while since I been on this site, since I sold my teg, to a friend who traded it to DTP Martin. I currently am tearing down my latest acquisition of an 88 teg as a donor car for my 87 CRX and noticed that the VIN reads DA. I thought 2nd gen tegs were DA's? What then would the 1st gen teg be? I know that my CRX is an EW but really an EC and my EG is really an EH3. So if my 88 teg is a DA, then what are 2nd gen ones really?

Theyre still DA's or first gens or whatever but just different generation. Just a different number at the end. Its just Honda getting lazy for the First 2 gens.

Same thing with the 4 doors. The 2nd gen 4 doors are DB's, and the 3rd gen 4 doors are also DB's.

1st Gen = DA1-DA3

2nd Gen = DA5-DA9, DB1-DB2

As you can see....its just Honda/Acura getting Lazy with numbers
