Default ceramic vs metallic brake pads

ceramic vs metallic brake pads

What's the latest info?

I was told Ceramic brake pads are better but cost more and don't have brake dust (visible)

But I would need to get rotors that are ceramic brake pad compatible?

Is the stopping distance the same? Does it last just as long or longer and what happens when it's cold, is the performance better or worse?

What do you guys know, and experiences?

Thanks!

^hes asking about the pads difference not about big brake kits.

Ceramic pads wont heat fade as quick, you wont see the dust as black spots, they dont heat up as quick and also the recover a ---- load faster then metallic pads. They wont fade your rotors as bad as metalic pads. In terms of cold brakes, ceramic pads didnt perform well at all until heated up. Then again this was awhile back i think they have addressed that problem now with newer pads, not quite sure.

stopping distance i cant say is too much better, its been proven that when panicking the stopping distance isnt any shorter really, infact you might have to use more effort.

it would be hard to give you or anyone a correct answer on which pad material is better than the other (ceramic vs. metallic)

every brake pad manufacturer will have different pad compounds and they will all work differently.

i will give you my own personal experience with PBR/axxis ceramic and metallic pads. satisfied pro ceramic pads, and KVR carbon fiber metallic pads.

PBR ceramic (same as Axiss ultimate): stops really well when cold and hot. resists fading very well. they don't last a really long time and the amount of brake dust and noise is insane. you cant go 1 day after cleaning the wheels without having your wheel dirty with brake dusts. and they constantly have a low speed brake squealing issue.

PBR Metallic (same as axiss metal masters): they are close in terms of performance to the ceramic. they do not dirty up your wheels instantly. no brake squealing as far as i can tell so far. overall they are good and better than OEM pads. no quite as good as the ceramic pads. but a good compromise between.

i currently have a set of satisfied ceramic brake pads on the front of my car now. they have top be the worst brake pad i have ever owned. they have MUCH less dust and brake noise but they don't stop worth a ----!! i highly recommend everyone stay away from the satisfied pro ceramic pads. unless you want something like OEM with less dust. in terms of performance they blow.

my next set of from brake will be from KVR. i have used them with great success before. they can take ALLOT of heat and totally resist any brake fade. i had my rotors blue and black warped and smoking at the road course but the pads still stopped on a dime. they are pretty hard and last a long time. the amount of brake dust is minimal or at least is does not stick as much to the wheels. the only con with the KVR carbon fiber metallic pads is they need to be warmed up before they start to work. 2-3 light stops before you fell them bite good.
