Car bogging out.
my 90 has been doing this for some time and i haven't quite figured out what's causing it. my car hesitates about 30-60 seconds before my temprature starts to climb. i've topped up the coolant and it doesn't do it as bad but it's still there which confuses me. i can't understand why the cooling system would interfere with the injection system...maybe the anwer is infront of me and i just can't see it. and to top it all of my 91 is doing it now too. i got 2 city blocks and when i made a right turn it started doing the same damn thing. themostats maybe? anyone experience the same thing or something similar? it's driving me nuts.

maybe you're ECT sensor is on its way out??!?!?!
I've never seen a bad thermostat effect the way the car drives, a thermostat is a mechanical device that opens once the coolant reaches a specific temperature, nothing more.

when you ran your code, did it differentiate between the ect sensor and the gauge sending unit? i need to read my code again, you read it for me 2 years ago, but i forgot what it was. my car doesn't like to get warm, except the other day it went to almost normal before the rad exploded.

If my memory is correct it triggered code 86 "Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit"
The way you determine which one it is, but testing both sensor's. THe testing procedure is in the helms manual.
I believe the sending unit is on the thermostat and sensor is in the head under the dizzy. Soon after I replaced the sensor, the sending unit crapped out and I had to replace that one as well.
Not too expensive from the dealer either
