Default car is bogging and not making power over 3000 rpm

Hey guys my car today started bogging all of a sudden and the check engine light came on. I was shifting for the past 3 days ive had it at 3500 rpm. The night i drove it home, it was bogging and not wanting to make power over 100 km/hr and the check engine light was on. Then the next day the check engine light wasn't on, in 2nd gear i engaged vtec and it was working. When i had it sat night mark told me the vtec was not working. So after the light was not showing i wanted to see if it worked.

So no matter what my car will not GO OVER 3000 rpm it cuts out and backfires. Im wondering what you guys think it may be or what you have experienced i just got this car on the road it been sitting for like 2 yrs. I think fuel filter may be plugged, my cat was new i had it put on 1 year ago and i used it for like 2 weeks. Im thinking not enough fuel or spark is going, the rotor and cap may be dead on my dizzy. Or maybe it something to do with vtec im confused. any help would be great. I figured this would happen due to the car sitting for so long problems occur.

i got a new rotor and cap.. that is not the problem.. the problem is some yo yo installed the wrong rotor and jammed it on. This melted the rotor to the dizzy broke the teeth where the timing is. Causing the car to pre denonate which means i need a new dizzy. 230 bucks and ill have it running again.

take dizzy apart.. i bet your teeth are broken on the dizzy thats wat my problem is.

so i fixed the problem, the dizzy i bought didnt fit my car but the rotor and cap i got new for my old dizzy fit on the new dizzy. Anyways my dizzy old 1 is a obd o jdm sir. 1989-1991 civic, The dizzy i got new 1 was a dohc 1991 civic. SO we took the teeth wheel that spins around and replaced it on the old dizzy. We then put it back together and started the car, and bam it fires up and idles mint. no check engine light. No we didnt reset ecu it was dark out and couldnt see as is. I then proceed home shifting at 3000 rpms. I then go to ymca to park it, and then check engine light comes on. Car ran fine didnt loose power. But i said ---- it im going to drive it home just incase. So tommorw going to figure what the code is and fix it, and fix the power steering line.

if u didnt reset the ecu it will take a few startups to reset itself. If u really did fix the problem the light will eventually go away

btw u said ur vtec wasnt working? did u do a motor swap?

ya about 1 yr ago put a gsr b17a1 motor in it.

i fixed the problem, had to swap out every little sensor and part into my old dizzy since the new dizzy didnt fit i raped it for parts pretty much a new dizzy. Anyways i have a check engine lite on, so i followed the instructions and checked my codes

here they are code 10 intake air temperature

code 23 knock sensor

code 8 tdc position,, the 3 sensors in the dizzy, I think this code will go away now that i replaced all new parts, it hasnt gone away because i have to reset the ecu and i forgot too after i installed the new parts.

code 21 vtec spool solenoid valve,. my vtec isnt workin, i smell gas when i drive my car it idles awsome runs ok, but runnin either too rich or lean i need a 02 sensor installed, and these sensors wat do i do to fix them?

Ok im confused and mad at the same time.

OK OK i took the internals which consist of the sensor's, ignitor,bearing everything. Out of the 1991 dohc 16v NEW dizzy since the new dizzy didnt fit on my car. Yet the NEW ROTOR AND CAP THAT FIT MY OLD DIZZY MATCHES UP AND FITS ON THE NEW DIZZY I BOUGHT. My car is a 1990 ls pr obd 0 but my motor is a 1992 gsr b17a1 obd 1 i believe. i kept the car obd o. vtec obd 0 ecu amd jdm sir dizzy 1989-1991. Now
i got the sensors and that swapped in my OLD DIZZY JDM B16 SHELL. I started car up and it ran mint. Now it is takin 3 cranks before car starts, as well im throwin code 4 and code 8 which is top dead center position sensor, and crankshaft sensor. Im mad and confused i just put brand new dizzy on.

Now i put the 1991 dohc civic internals inside the old shell i have. DID THE MECHANIC NOT GAP IT PROPERLY, IS THE SENSORS NOT INSTALLED PROPERLY OR DEFECT. Or the sensors from my new dohc civic dizzy i put in are not interchangable and wont work? I need to get a answer from someone who knows wat they are talkin about im confused. Reason i didnt get a brand new b16 dizzy is i cudnt find 1, as well half them are 17 yrs old and are probably on there way out. I thought i cud just swap over all the internals and i wud be ok. I mean the rotor and cap i got fit my old dizzy shell perfect so i matched that with the dizzy and the dizzy that matched was the dohc 1991 civic. Yet it didnt fit on my motor so i swapped the parts out of it. please help me out,.

i feel your pain man! I've tried everything .did u do your water pump and timing cause you could be firing backwards starting from 4231 when you should be doing 1243 .try doing you timing again it might make a difference cause thats the last thing for me to do. i will do mine next weekend ill keep you posted.

i got a new timing belt. waterpump, timing belt tensioner pulley new alt blet new alt, new wire plus rotor and cap.. i need a fuel filter. My car runs better i cleaned my intake air temp sensor no more code, no more knock sensor, no more crankshaft sensor so i think the mechanic didnt gap it properly orrrr the sensor is fucked.. anyways i need a new terminal on my negative its lil but loose.
