you loosen the bolts off and adjust it by turning the camshaft slightly with a wrench on the nut...

but you should be tuning it on a dyno so you can actually see if you are getting any performance from the cam gear tuning. you could be hurting performance if you just guess.

Never guess. If you haven't done it before, don't start.

wow...who'd you call about the tuning? Thats insane pricing.

As for adjusting the cam gears yourself, provided that you have a wideband o2 sensor setup, datalogging setup, real time programmer and a laptop to make on the fly adjustments i see no problem messing around with the cam gears on the street. Sure you'll never know whats making the most power b/c obviously that can only be determined on a dyno, but you definately can feel the difference in where the powerband is after adjusting the cam gears and doing a shakedown run to make sure the AFR's (air/fuel ratios) are ok, correcting any changes that may occur.
I wouldn't really go much past + or - 5 degrees on either cam.
Generally speaking, if you increase the overlap (advancing the intake and retarding the exhaust) the power band will shift upwards at the loss of a little torque and midrange. If you decrease the overlap (retarding the intake and advancing the exhaust) you'll feel more midrange at the cost of a little bit of power at the top end....again this is just generally speaking, there are many factors to consider here.

You'll be able to find cheaper tuning, PM me for more info, not everyone charges $1000 to tune a car.

i say try it. the best settings my boy had was +8 In., +5 ex. if i were you, i'd crank them to the furthest positive seeting on both cams..its gotta make more power right? plus, you'll save that $1K. what you save in tuning, you can put into your new rebuild, jackass. this is the stupidest question i've seen in 07'. the funny thing is, this is the same dude selling a Moogen header with chrome plating and a mig welded plate across the runners. sad thing is, it was listed as Mugen.

i believe -------- charges more for tuning cam gears, like its not included in the price of their tune, you have to pay extra for them to tune the cam gears.

someone elses cam gear settings (much like a custom tune) might and prolly won't yeild the best results on your setup....this is b/c EVERY engine is different. One car might like +4/-2 whereas another might like +6/+2.
Feel free to go crazy adjusting them, but keep in mind the AFR's are changing with your adjustments and without a way to fix it, its not something i would do personally....but thats just me.

just get some dyno time with zman... obviously he knows his stuff and he has been tuning cars for some time now. andrew really knows his ----. with just 2 hours of street tuning he was able to coax 280whp out of my turbo setup at 8psi. he also does engine building so he has a pretty sound understanding of how everything works together to make power.

Not to be rude......but if u are about to spend $1000 on a tune i hope u are running some serious mods and have serious horsepower....i dont know the specs of your car but dont waste your money dude.......

Just to give u an idea, i payed $600 to get my car tuned and that was approx 5-6 hours of dyno time......
And after my motor is done he told me to come back and its on the house.....

When i had my Type R i had it tuned after my turbo install and i payed $200 for about 2 1/2 hours so i think your getting jipped man

Shop around, there are way better deals out their.

FYI, I paid $160/hour for dyno/tuning time.

Zman tuned 3 of my cars. My boosted GSR, and my boosted LS twice, He has done street tuning and dyno tuning for me, and a few other small things on my car, his prices were really reasonable, and he goes out of his way to make sure things run smoothly. His one of the most straight up dudes u will meet. Give him a pm, get a price for tuning from him, u wont regret it.

Zman is 100% legit. hes tuning my next C5. Neetronics tuned my last 2 motors, but, now that Z knows his ----, its a no brainer. Neetronics is also good, but, every time i tune, i can barely get out of there in time to get some punany.....my last tune i spent 8 hours there.

delta-i'm an -------, can't change my ways...i'm too old now.
