Default Cam Seal

has anyone had experience replacing their cam seal their self?
is it very difficult can it be done easily at home or is it a better idea to have a shop do it?

would a shop charge a lot for replacing the seal?

i looked up a diy and it doesn't seem too hard im just worried about the torque settings and all that. i haven't ever used a torque wrench or followed specs on any projects nothing Ive done had specs or need for a torque wrench...this is why i dunno if i should attempt this

i found a nice skunk 2 seal 30 bucks but its for
Civic (1996-2000) Si
Del Sol (1993-1997) DOHC VTEC
Integra (1986-1989)
Integra (1990-1993)
Integra (1994-2001)

i have a 98 crv engine (b20b) and im not too sure if this seal would fit. im pretty sure the seal fits all b series engines but i dont wanna rip the valve cover off to find out it doesn't fit.

i want to do this because my motor looks clean except for around the seal its always wet and underneath is dirty from the dripping
mr lube says im burning oil too i think its because of the seal

any suggestions/tips or thoughts would be appreciated

It is very easy to change, and yes that will work on a B20. Those are made for most DOHC honda (B/F/H) engines. All you do is remove the valve cover, and then once you have it off you just remove the cam seal holder, which is held in with 2 bolts (10mm heads) and then change the cam seal to the new one, and then just out every think back together in reverse order. It should not take you long at all to do it.

yeah that's what i thought it would be sounds easy to me but when i researched it there was parts about removing cam holder plate bolts the diagram shows 14 bolts and they have torque specs i think

maybe this is just for a vtec engine i noticed on the diy its a vtec one

hope no one minds but im going to copy a link of what i looked at to me it seems more complicated then it should be

It depends on if you have the old style or new style. If it's the new style, it will take you 14 seconds to replace, you just pop it out and push a new one in...that's if you use the OEM one, too. BTW, don't waste your money on a brand name one, it will just make you look like a retard for paying 8 times what you should have for a SEAL.
